gixxer second gear stumble

i have a 03 600 that at around 13,500rpm in second studders once or twice then kicks back in. i have replaced the ecu and still the same thing. i had a power commander 3 on the old ecu and was told that may have been the problem but the new ecu did the same without the commander. anyone heard of anything like this happening and how to remedy the problem?

Re: gixxer second gear stumble

yup your ****ed.

i had an 01 gsxr 600, same thing in 2nd gear feels like it slips out of gear and then jumps back in. The more you ride it in that gear it gets worse and will start to happen each time at a lower RPM.

after all said and done it was a bent shift fork, and i needed a few gears replaced due to them being worn out. I got priced at $1500 to have it fixed but i had a laid off bike mechanic doit for $750.

that **** sucks, i rode it out rest of summer w/ it ****ed up i just didnt use 2nd gear. Thats how i learned how to wheelie in 3rd gear. I would get it fixed though asap, or sell it and pretend like you dont know about it.

Same with me on my 01 750 last year. Bent shift fork. It honestly wasn't that big of a deal for me because I stayed out of second. When I hit it in second one time I bent it enough to disable the tranny and needed to get it replaced.

If you lived closer to CT I would have my boy (mechanic) hook you up for under 750 bux no problem. You probably should lower the motor yourself also or I can do it for a small fee.....

Fire your mechanic.... After you drop your motor, and experienced mechanic will have it fixed in an hour. Then you gotta put it back in.

I gotta admit, SL is a great community and majority wins. I blew my motor and had mad responses from others with the same issue. It is a good way to gague something that happend to your or is on your mind..... .02

Taken from http://www.gixxergirl.com/suzuki_news, and I can't find the original.

1. "Closer transmission gear ratios for improved acceleration, plus redesigned shift forks for smoother shifting" To fix shift fork problems.

2. "New reinforced crankshaft and chrome-moly connecting rods, plus recalibrated balancer shaft for dependable high rpm operation" To help alleviate high rev wobble that leads to spun bearings/blown motors.

Re: gixxer second gear stumble

does the bent shift fork make it seem like an electrical problem with ignition, or ecu? that what has me lost...did your bike rev up when second was trippin out, or just seem to cut out and back in real quick like mine? i just hate to drop the tranny for nothin, wanna be as sure as i can be before i make a move and disable my ride. it is starting flip out at lower rpm's, today it hit at around 5 grand in second.

If it is only second gear that is doing this then YES its a shift fork. The fact that it is almost "bogging" or losing power is why it is confusing you.

If it did it in every gear then I would worry about a power loss/ground issue somewhere.

No matter what, if you keep riding 2nd its gonna crap out one day. Weather you want to deal with it or not, it will just cost more $$$$ the longer you wait.

Re: gixxer second gear stumble

well wish me luck. im gettin ready to tear it apart, if this fixes the problem i'll be happier than a pediphile in the phillipines. thanks for the advice, its better than hearing "you shouldnt ride like that, or wait for it to totally go out then we can fix it" thank god for SL

Second gear is trashed. Drop the motor and take it to a shop. Or get a manual and order the parts and fix it yourself.

To keep it from happening, stop shifting from 1st to 2nd in wheelies. Gixxers have weak transmissions. (honestly, they have weak everything) You can do it all day if you are good at it, but all you have to do is crunch it 1 good time and the tranny is wasted. Best advise is to learn to do coasters and start using the clutch when you shift.

Re: gixxer second gear stumble

yeah, now that i think of it this crap did start after i was shifting in wheelie's, i never did make the connection though, until now. that sucks..is there a way to beef up the tranny while its apart to prevent this in the future?
