gsxr 600 swap to 750 ?????
I blew my 600 motor and i got a hold of a 750 motor for a good price but my questions is what modifications need to be done to make it fit? if any? Both motors are 2003.

"i read a post like this in the gixxer forum, someoone said that the motor mounts would be off but could be adjusted to fit the motor"
Not true for the 600-750 of the same generation
a 01-03 750 will bolt right up to a 01-03 600 frame, everything must be changed over from the 750.......throttle boddies, wiring harness, ECU etc etc
Its the 1000 motor that requires frame brackets for one of the motor mounts on a 750 or 600 frame.

save yourself the time and the headache. no it does not bolt right up, and it's off a lot, not a little. we just did a swap. get yourself the right motor and save yourself the trouble.

Re: gsxr 600 swap to 750 ?????
the 2 front mounts don't line up. you can make a spacer for the left front 2 offset the mount. as far as the right, it really doesn't line up. this is what POWERSBIKEWORKX did to a frame that had the same problem. now it won't mount a cage right, or any frame sliders for that matter. but hey it's not like the guy didn't pay to have his frame and metal powdercoated, and we didn't put a nice custom paint job on the bike either. who needs protection.
he got it in there, but it's hacked. so it can be made to work it's just the biggest pain in the ***.

Ok for starters, if you've never done it then don't put your opinion in, all it does is confuse people.
I HAVE DONE IT SEVERAL TIMES. What you do is, put the 750 motor in the bike and put all the rear mounting bolts in. Next bring your bike to a GOOD welder and tell him to fabricate your brackets to mount up with the new engine in the front. At that Point your good to go. It's not that hard, just got to know a good welder.
You do have to have the year specific 750 harness, CDI/ECU, throttle bodies, the works) for everything to work right though. It's just as easy as reinstalling any engine, just have to get the two front mounting tabs relocated, which any welder worth anything can do. Put my old one in for $90.00, and it held forever, and that price included welding up 6 other cracks, lol.
That's all there is to say about it, DO IT, lol. Don't forget to put a stuntex.com oil pickup in, or youll be taking the motor out sooner than you think

Re: gsxr 600 swap to 750 ?????
JohnnyP is incorrect. At least as far as the 01-03 600s are concerned.. As justin said above, you have to shave the front mounts for it to line up. It is most definitely not a direct bolt in. The 750 head is about a quarter inch taller than the 600 head. I know because I did the mod personally. I have before and after pics on my computer at home that shows how far the mounts are off.. and what it looks like after they have been shaved and rewelded. I'll post em up if anyone is interested.
