Swapping a tank out?

im changing the tank on my 954 and putting a **** tank on it so i can sit on it. and save my nice one. How long does it take to do this and is it a pain in the ***?? The local shop guy said he would charge me $215 for the tank , a inspection sticker, and the labor? This sound pricey or just right? or should i do it myself?

It's easy to do yourself as long as you have the tools. You don't need a sticker...and the $200 is about right for a tank and the labor.

definitely do it yourself. It'll take 2 seconds compared to the hassle of having the local shop do it. take the seat off and it's like 4 bolts.

Buy the dented tank off of ebay for about $100.00. To remove and put on a new tank is about as easy as it gets. Should take maybe 10-15 minutes at most.

Even 100 is a lot. Just keep your eye out on ebay. Another good idea is going on one of those bike-specific sites like CBRworld.com (or whatever, i don't even know what it is ) and check out the classified section. That's what i did and i got a tank for $50.
