Registering rebuilt bike...

Well im about to pick up a 03 ZX6rr that has a salvage title but has been put back together. The bike had basicly cosmetic damage... plastics, wheel..ect... But the guy low sided it (after it was put back together) and the bar end hit the tank and put a little dent in it. nothing major...

I'm going to the DMV on monday to see if i can get this bike registered. Does anyone think i will have a problem? Maybe give me som pointers on what to do because i realy want to get this bike.

Also... i had my GF call to get the insurance quote on the bike but she forgot to mention it was a rebuilt bike... Is that going to be a problem also?

Thanks.

Don't know about the DMV in FL, but I know the insurance is generally the same everywhere. Salvage title will effect the insurance for sure. So I would call back so you don't get any surprises.

I cant speak specifically for Florida, but generally a rebuilt bike has to be inspected to be sure it meets all state regulations. If it does then registering is no problem.

Re: Registering rebuilt bike...

I just did , this this week, but not in florida. In missouri, you have to get the bike inspected by the highway patrol. You have to have all the receipts for the parts used to reassemble the bike. When they inspect it, they look to see that the VIN #s match the title and that it is safe to ride. It was pretty simple. If you don't have receipts, make some up, or go to a bike shop and tell them to make you some. You don't need every receipt, because they have no idea what was replaced....I know this isn't for florida, but hope it helps. after the inspection, take the paperwork and title to the dmv and you get a title
