Question Leaking fuel cap...

I wonder if anyone else has had this problem. I have started noticing that small amounts of fuel have been seeping through the key hole of my fuel cap. Now about the same time that this started happening, two weeks ago, is right about the time that I started lifting stoppies. It seems like the obvious answer, but I've been pulling wheelies for a decade & never had a leak like this. I would think that the fuel would rush up the same in a wheelie as in a stoppie, you know? Is this a common problem when lifting stoppies, or do you just think the seals in the cap are bad... assuming there are "seals" in there?

Cool Hmmm...

... so it's common in gixxers. That sucks b/c mine does it even with as little as a third of a tank. I like that VORTEX screw in cap, but I'm paranoid someone will try to sabotage my fuel. My baby is rarely out of eye-shot, but still!

I've had about 10 Suzukis and my 1000 is the first one to do it. Mine does it mostly in long standups though. Anyone got any suggestions other than switching caps?

Question HAYEZ...

Yo J, I commute over a 100 miles day so that's not an option, but I do fuel up daily to keep the octane rating. I generally fill 2.5 gallons, and go from there. So at the most I have like 3.25 gallons in her. :twelve

Get the vortex cap. No one is gonna sabotage it because it friggin locks ITSELF on lol. I carry a pair of pliers in my truck to twist it off with. If you start doing x'd up stuff its gonna crush your tank and f**k up your cap. Mine broke the ring around the cap then the cap wouldn't close all the way. I got the vortex cap and everything is perfect now, no gas spillage or anything. Looks hot too.

Question RAYBONE...

I hear you there. I'm curious as well as HINKS has said earlier that he had his warrantied. I need to check the recall list ASAP. I had checked previously about the cam chain tensioner, but didn't see any for 1996.

I had the same problem with my ZX6r and found that gass would flow up the caps overspill hole which is outside the gasket seal. Can you say JB Weld.....
