Headshake

Not really a stunt question but, I have and 04 r6 that gets a good amount of headshake. It's usually just when accellerating hard and making the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. I know r6's are not the most stable bike, but what are the chances of this headshake turnig into a tankslapper? Should I not worry, or get a damper ASAP?

Thanks for the help

Re: Headshake

Somethings not right on the bike, check your headstem, make sure its snug. Tires? Are they worn/bald? Check the rear wheel, is it aligned properly. I had a 2nd gen R6, VERY stable bike. Aggressive angles but stable non the less.

Re: Headshake

If none of that is wrong then have a good shop setup your suspension. My F4i did the same thing around 120+. I had Garage Mahall setup mine and it feels like a totatlly different bike. Only cost 25$ to do it and is one of the best "mods" Iv had done.

Re: Headshake

I think I explained that poorly. It's just for an instant when the front end gets light. I know slight headshake is not uncommon.

Re: Headshake

I wouldn't worry about it here, yeah it could turn into headshake but most likely not unless you hit a bump in the road at the same time, now once you get some gearing on your bike you will probably want to put a damper on it because it'll wheelie while you're rolling on the throttle in a turn and get a tank slapper.

1. this guy is not from texas. he doesn't know about greg or the kid.

2. check alignment on front and rear.

3. make sure front tire is not worn.

4. check this thread for more good info.

Re: Headshake

sounds kinda like your doin the "crazy crack smokin" shift... when you throw your leg out to the side real far to try and shift quicker. my buddy has a f4 and everytime he shifts his knee kicks out 2ft and his front wobbles, lil too agressive. i doubt thats the problem though, because you should know if your retarded

Re: Headshake

r6 is just light in the front end. youll be fine, though a stabilizer is good. try and be smooth on the gas in the turns, if you got it leaned over and get in the gas too much so that the front gets light than that could get a tank slapper, its just the nature of the beast.

if you dont want it to happen, then dont bang the low gears as hard
