My bike just quit durring a long stand up.
Got an SV and was hanging a balance point stand up. I was up for along time and finaly starting to rev pretty high, so decided to put it down. on the way down the bike just plian quit.
I have 2 theories:
1. The oil sensor was not sensing oil and turned the engine off.
2. What is hydro locking? could that be what happened.
The bike runs fine now, I pulled over and let it rest and it started right up and acts no differently than before.
Whatchyall think

1. Bikes don't have that kinda technology yet, the ECu can't shut down the motor for oil starvation. There is simply a sensor to see if the motor has oil pressure, if the pressure drops, the light goes on, it's your job to stop riding it then, it will continue to run til it seezes if you keep hammering it, LOL
2. Hydro locking is when a cylinder fills with a liquid and makes the upward stroke of the motor impossible. It can't happen (really) when the bike is running. It usually occurs when either: A) you leave the bike on its side for too long (talkin hours or days here) and the bottom cylinder fills up with some oil OR more commonly B) the head gasket or somewhere there is a leak and one cylinder fills with anti-freeze, again this happens while the bike is off!
Could have been a bunch of things, MAYBE you were either starving the motor for fuel, either the tank was low or your carbs are not adjusted right
OR
the tip over sensor go tripped (not likely in a highway wheelie but you never know, maybe yours is mounted bad and trips easy)
OR
you bumped the on/off switch, i've done it a few times in the parking lot.
You need to investigate, see if ANYTHING is wrong with the bike at all, then go ride it a bunch to see if it does it again! Good luck bro, keep us updated!

Re: My bike just quit durring a long stand up.
Same thing happened to me the other night. Hittin wheelies all night long and then in the middle of one my bike just shut off and slammed down. We sat there for about an hour trying to figure it out in the dark. Turns out my ecu fell out the back and hit against the rear tire and yanked one of the wires loose. Boy did I feel stupid. But yours was prolly just from not having enough gas.
