929 stator case cover question

I highsided and cracked my case cover...only problem is i also cracked a piece of aluminum that the case bolts onto (i assume the acutall engine block itself).

I of course jb welded the little piece back on,....question is, where the stator is housed what kinda pressure from oil is in there...im worried the jb weld wont hold and i cant afford a new motor....thanks

Re: 929 stator case cover question

mine broke out a piece where the cases meet. You cant get it welded without splitting the cases. I wound up getting another motor. ....But good luck on yours!

Thumbs up Re: 929 stator case cover question

Had that happen had to get a new motor. Don,t trust that JB weld unless you let it sit for awhile. Get a cage it's less expensive than buying a new motor.

Re: 929 stator case cover question

Thats notorious on the 929s. It happened on mine and I had someone reweld the piece back on. Be smart and run a cage.

that happened on mine also and i got it welded. But it still leaked and i noticed that gold bolt wasnt flush wit the case, could the oil be gettin in there and leaking? well i jB welded it about 1 week ago so im lettin it sit, i havent put oil in it either yet well could that be where the oil went thru and got out? dont see any other leaks

Re: 929 stator case cover question

Get an MXD race cage. I hear they work really well if you still like to hit corners. I think TEACH uses one on his 636 track bike sometimes.

Best course of action would be welding the case cover
I've done 20 or up here in the northeast and not one has leaked
JB Weld will break down over time and you don't want to be hugging a corner and have motor oil dripping on the ground could spell out disaster
