F4i Temp sensor

F4i Temp sensor
I just picked up a F4i from an ins. auction (theft recovery) with no body work other than the tank. When they took the upper fairing They also took the harness for the tip sensor and the headlights/blinkers.
I bypassed the tip sensor at the plug for the upper wiring harness, all is good there....
But I get no temp reading on the gauges. Therefore the choke wont turn on when the bike is cold. It runs great once warmed up but is hard starting when cold. The fan turns on when the bike gets hot so no problem there.
Any body here running thier f4i without the upper harness plugged in?
Also the FI light blinks 7 times and then stops for a sec than 7 times again and again.
Any ideas?
TIA

Re: F4i Temp sensor
I can't remember off hand but I think thats the code for the ECT (eng. coolant temp. sensor) check to make sure its even pluged in should be just one wire (possibly green)from the back of the motor or the thermostat housing.

Re: F4i Temp sensor
yeah, its not from having the upper harness off, I rode mine for several months with only the tip switch jumped and it worked perfectly. For some reason my headlights wouldnt work. ha.
