Clutching up bike is killing my finger
Hey guys,
Well I own a 636 and I don’t know if its just me being a pansy as* but after about 1 hour of practicing in the parking lot my clutch finger starts killing me my guess is that the clutch springs for 636's are much stiffer than allot of other bikes. I have friends with CBR 900's and I don’t have any problems when I ride CBR's anyone else with 636 having the same problem? If you have a chance try pulling back the clutch on a F4I then a 636 I am wandering if I can drop in some factory F4I springs in my 636???? sounds crazy I know but you never know till you try it right? Well if you got some helpful info please post it because my finger is killing me. Oh yeah and I have already tried the shorty clutch lever and it doesn’t work worth a damn so I am using a stock clutch lever.

Yo try using some cable lube with the attachment. Go to your local dealership and ask them about it. Once you clean and lube the cable it should be way easier to pull back.
Also if you are new to stuntin and are continuoslly pulling in and lettin out on the clutch, your index finger will get soar and tired but after you keep practicin you will get used to it. Then comes the mad arm pump. LOL
Peace Justin

Clutch????? Just do power wheelies cause they RAWK!
j/k
I think every bike is a little different, even bikes of the same model can pull a little different.
After a few weeks carpel tunnel should set in then you'll be power wheelie'n fo sho....
You'll build stength and get used to it.

Re: Clutching up bike is killing my finger
How much freeplay you got in that clutch cable and are you pulling it all the way in everytime or just enough to slip it. I set my 636 with almost no freeplay. This way I don't have to pull the lever in far to slip the clutch. It's just a small bend of my finger and snap it right back out. Doesn't take a lot of effort. If you are pulling it all the way in everytime your fingers will be tired.

Re: Clutching up bike is killing my finger
On the 636 I found the stock lever/perch doesnt have enough leverage on it. I swapped it out for a MSR Raptor shorty and I love it, takes about half the effort to pull and I only use 1 or 2 fingers. I set it so I only have to pull it till the lever touches my other fingers then slip n go.
Anyone that tries it is likes it right away!
The 636 clutch only has four pressure springs but they are really long so I dont know if any others will fit. I think its a really weak clutch compared to a R6 or GSXR and I'd actually like to mod it to have more grab to it.

Re: Clutching up bike is killing my finger
Thank you guys for all of the helpful information
I'll go lube my cable then try repositioning my lever so that its in further because I know that its much easier to pull it in towards the outter end. I have tried a Raptor shorty lever with no luck only because when I engage the clutch being that the shorty sweeps back further it hits my finger not allowing me to completely disengage the clutch so with no play at all I cant fully pull the lever in unless I cover the lever holding on with just two fingers. Yeah I know I sound like a whiner but If I had a super soft *** clutch I know I would pick thing up much faster because I wouldn’t get my hand worn out so damn fast.

Re: Clutching up bike is killing my finger
Strange your the first person that doesnt like the Raptor shorty! Maybe you just didnt give it enough time? I had to change my style to work with it, I used to use all fingers and pull all the way to the bar. Now I only pull in a little with 1 or 2 fingers, much faster, less pain and better all around.
Sounds like your asking for too much maybe you need a hydraulic conversion

Re: Clutching up bike is killing my finger
you ain't a stunta til you got a caliced clutch finger
take the pivot bolt out and clean it with a wire brush til its super smooth in the bore.. big difference... when you finish use a metal lubricant like molybendulum grease or silicone. also use compressed air to push grease down into the cable. check the cable for kinks or bends.
