PLEASE HELP - chain problem
i am running a -1/+3 combo - how many link chain should i use??
2001 gixxer 750
i got a 120 and im cutting it on the bike now, i can only pull it hard enough to get 5 links cut off, but 115 seems like a lot -
i adjusted the rear wheel all the way to the front, and it appears when i line the chain up that theres enough slack for the bottom of the chain to touch the bottom of swingarm, like 2" or more of slack

Re: PLEASE HELP - chain problem
you MIGHT have gotten away with using the stock chain with -1/+3, but too late now.
You have the right idea, push the wheel as far forward as you can, pull chain as tight as you can, the best way to do it is to line the two ends up on the rear sproket. Have on end hooked, and then pull tight and wrap the other end, make sure where you cut will leave two small links at the ends so that you can install the master link!

Re: PLEASE HELP - chain problem
does 115 links seem way too big tho? it does to me, i want to cut the ones that i can off so i can link the master in loosely and readjust the rear wheel, but if i cut these extra ones off i wont have anything to yank on in case its still too loose =[

Re: PLEASE HELP - chain problem
ok, you don't need anything to "yank" on, you'll be able to pull on the part of the chain you are using and wrap it around the sproket to make the two ends meet. you don't want to leave it too loose or you wont be able to adjust out all the slack. this should be a fairly easy process. just take your time and dont cut it too short, you can ALWAYS take another link out, adding links sucks!!!

Re: PLEASE HELP - chain problem
no i don't think 115 is too much just link it together and then move tha tire back untill tha chain is tite.....remember you want about a half inch to a inch of slac up and down when your done
oh yeah and make sure if and when you cut it that both the ends are female ends other with you can't masterlink it together
