what chain for 57 tooth rear sprocket on a 2002 R1
My bikes an 02 R1 and i just threw on a 57 tooth rear sprocket with a stock front sprocket. I was sent a 530x120 chain by sprocket specialists and it was coming up 1 link too short to connect, what's the correct size chain?

That's why we just add however many are needed to the stock chain to make it fit, then use two masterlinks! good luck with it

ah yes, just got off the phone with em, i didn't realize their were only 4 different sizes they had, and only one size larger after the 120 links (130) for the 530 chains
--Yeah i don't really feel comfortable using 2 master links though, have you ran into any problems with that? Do you run 2 masters connecting into a female connector or how do you have that setup
I couldn't find anyone in town that had links for sell either, just masters - where do you get yours?

been doing it for a couple years, no problems!
you cut the chain so that there is female ends exposed at both ends. Then attach a piece of donor chain with a master to your chain, then put the chain on the bike and wrap it around the sprokets to see how much extra is needed, usually 3-4 links with a sproket that size. Cut the donor chain so that a female is exposed, connect to other end of your chain using the other master. So it goes:
your chain - master - 3or4 links of donor - master - your chain
just make sure you are using the master correctly and check to make sure the retainer clip is still there before you ride!
we do it this way cause we are always changing bikes and gearing and stuff, and using a riveted master is a pain in the ***, clip type masters are easy!
if it makes you feel better, get the 130 link and cut it down.
