Mounting Gauges and Acrebis
When i looped my bike, i completely destroyed my front fairing stay, so im going streetfighter but need a little help. I want to keep my gauges and im getting one of the new Acerbis cyclops front ends. So heres the question. Should i buy a racing front fairing stay because its only 100 dollars (214 for a stock one) and mount the gauges and the front end to that, or should i fabricate a piece to hold my gauges. Please post pics of what is holding your gauges up and tell me what i need. Should i even get a front fairing stay? PLEASE HELP. I NEED TO RIDE!!!! THANKS A TON IN ADVANCE! PEACE!

C'mon people I need help. it doesnt seem like i could fit the gauges under the number plate with the front end strapped to the forks. I just dont know if there would be enough room?? I think r6 kidd did this. how are your gauges mounted?

Re: Mounting Gauges and Acrebis
ok i got an acerbis light and i dont run gauges it aint that big a deal to me but i think the best way to do it wud be this...get a piece of metal and attach it to the gauges, have the metal coem off the gauges liek an inch..drill i hole in the middle of the metal and take off ur steering stem nut ..put the whole u drilled ova the threads then crank the nut back on.... if u can understand that i think it wud work

Re: Mounting Gauges and Acrebis
Allright...there are a couple deals here...i personally dont run gauges on my fighterz, but there are about 5 of us rocking them now, and one of my buddies does...i think he used an acerbis kit that came with a mount for gauges...i don't know for sure if it was an acerbis or a UFO or what...but it mounts up to your bars with rubber clamps like the rest of them, and has a backing peice of plastic that is located tucked underneath the plastic sheild...there are some holes allready in it so you can just zip tie your guages into place there...it worked slick as hell for a 2002 gsxr750...look for that kit or email acerbis or UFO...once of those two...if you have any problems locating it, hit me with a PM and I'll call my buddy up and find out specifically which one it is
In any case, with this kit...you wont need any upper or stay or anything
Oh yeah...the healight bulbs for most of these kits are available at your local hardware store (i get mine at menards) and you can get a whole mess of different wattages...if you get those suckers aimed correctly, you have perfectly decent light coverage at night...mine works pretty well and I don't have them aimed all that great

Re: Mounting Gauges and Acrebis
I just used a piece of sheet aluminum and atatched it to the steering stem nut and bent the two sides up and drilled holes for the gauge bolts. no pics with me but i will try to find them later

Re: Mounting Gauges and Acrebis
on the R6 I used to have I just went to HomeDepot and bought a long strip of aluminum(i think), cut two pieces and bent them into a 'J' shape. drilled a hole at each end and bolted one end to the back of the gauge and the other end I zip tied to the mx fairing(had to drill two holes towards top of mx fairing). I adjusted the angle of the gauges by just bending the metal strips. cost me about $5.00 and took me an hour to setup. It held up real good too. I dropped that shi7 a few times and it never fell off. Sometimes the ziptie would snap off but big deal. If I find some pics I'll post them. It also depends on your gauges. My R6 gauges had three spots to bolt.

Re: Mounting Gauges and Acrebis
Any pics??? Are there any possible problems putting a piece of aluminum under the steering stem nut? Did you keep the washer on or remove it? That sounds the easiest to do. I'd really appreciate some pics of that! Thanks everyone!
