03-04 R6 oil pick up

whats the deal with the oil pick up on an 03-04 Yamaha R6? I have heard they are good to go and I have heard other wise....anyone know for sure. Please no guesses.....speak the truth only if you know it.

on my bike I hydo locked the engine twice 12ing it. pored over a QT of oil in my Pipe when they were cleaning it out. Just get a oil catch can and youll be good
