Dented in my tank

i dented in my tank tonight... and when i was doing it i took the cap off and kinda ****ed up the the hole so now i can only get like one bolt to hold it in... think that will be a problem? it still locks and evreything though. other then that i got some pretty bad creases in the metal one got A little hole can i J.B. weld that? other then that i cracked a bunch of paint... thinking of getting a new tank and trying again... any tips on the next time i try and dent one???

Re: Dented in my tank

Leave the cap on and in the closed position. Stomp around the cap with your heel till it starts to go down (boots work better). You can take a mallot after and finish it up. make sure the tank is'nt full. Open the cap ocasionally to see how much further u can go down.

Re: Dented in my tank

gas will eat through the JB weld in about a week. i put a ton on a tiny little crack and i have small gas leaks all the time. i would try to get it welded, just make sure there is no gas in the tank, and take it to someone who knows what they are doing .

its called tank CREME. most bike shops should carry it. its a 3 step process. and works great.
