How should I fix this leak in my tank?
My tank cracked when I dented it and I tried to JB weld it but the JB weld cracked too. So how should I go about fixing this permanantly? I was thinking either welding or soldering.... the crack in the tank is about 1 inch long and a few milimeters wide. thanks.

if you can weld, weld is the best way to go,but make sure the gas is all out and the tank is cleaned out before you go at it.then sand that **** out and touch up the paint.

go to your local autoparts store and get some "quick steel" ~$5
i had a few cracks after denting my tank, mix some quick steel up (mixes like play-do) and smash it on, it was good as new.
make sure you give it enough time to cure, if it gets fuel on it before its finished curing, you have to redo it.
hope that helps

don't fill the tank up all the way. J/K welding it is a pain in the *** and most places won't even do it....sand the paint off around the crack and then use jb weld, it'll work.
Or we could smash in that blue tank you got :YEAH

quick steel is different.
it comes in a putty form. you mix the two different "puttys" together to start the checmical process.
after its moxed good, you lay oy on. you smash it around where you want it, and let it dry, once its dry it becomes hard as a rock (or metal) . you can paint over it , may be able to sand it using 500+ grit sand paper to smooth it out (never treid or cared).

if your gonna weld it yourself, then fill the tank up with water till it over flows, then empty it.
do it three times
this should get all the gas out.
if your gonna weld it, get a MIG welder, and just spot weld it over and over, so you cover the whole crack with a bunch of spot welds. Grind down to smooth and repaint.
I bet a body shop would do it
BTW, welding on anything that had gas in it is VERY dangerous, so don't even THINK about this unless you realize that a ****-up could get you killed.
I am not responsible for anything you do with this information.

Re: How should I fix this leak in my tank?
There are a few places that manufacture/repair tanks for like propane, gas, kerosene, oil, etc. When i used to drag race mustangs, i took my 1 tank to one of those places and they welded a sump on if for $40 and they steam cleaned the inside of the tank (to purge all the gas out). I've tankin another to a hot-rod shop and they welded it on for $60 (took them an hour to do it). So any place like those 2 should be able to weld it up. I've also welded a tank before personally, and i just washed the tank out w/ water 3 or 4 times then welded it up... afterwards, make sure to fill the tank up and get rid of the gasoline, so all the water is out of the tank.
