Anyone have an R6 with a K&N filter?

I ordered the filter for my '04 R6 and picked it up today. Looking at the package it said fits 99-03, well the 03 is the same as the 04 right? So I call the place and they said yeah its the same. BUT the filter doesnt seem shaped for **** if thats the case I havent even tried to screw the cover back on yet but it just doesnt feel right. Anyone have any info? Thanks.

I have an 04 and I had trouble putting it in. Just shave as much as you can off the top corner edges. Then tighten it up by putting the screws in one at a time and tighten them like a wheel on a car, (star pattern, intermittenly). Trust me it will fit you just have to make it fit.
