Clutch replace on 929 question

i was replacing the clutch plates and springs on my 929 and i did not realize you had to line up the actuator and i was tighting down the cover and then i heard a lop ear ringing pop and i took it apart and realized that i had to line the rod up now when i get it lined up i can't get the clutch rod to move or lock in to place... what happened any ideas??? did i break anything??? how do i make the clutch work???

The first time i did it, I did the EXSACT same thing, I am almost positive you broke the Clutch lifter pin, The thing that sticks out from the center of the cluch should have a head on it, when you don't line it up it snaps that head off...If that makes sence...If not let me know and I can post some pictures of exsactly what im talking about.

It's also possible you slightly bent the long chrome rod that actually runs through the clutch cover that the clutch cable connects too.
