First Spray paint layed on the F2

First Spray paint layed on the F2
Heres my front fender i finished today.
I sanded the original paint down with 200 grit (not all the way to the plastic) then sprayed on 2 layers of primer. Sanded the primer with 600 grit then sprayed on 2 base coat layers of blue. I thought i was finished and wet sanded. After the wet sanding i noticed that it lighted the spray paint alot and made it look like ***. So i sprayed on a 3rd coat of blue and just left it without sanding and it looks great! Im guessing the reason the wet sanding didnt work out so well is because the spray paint has a glitter in it that kinda sparkles.
I wanna do silver tribal flames really bad on the rest of the bike. Has anyone had experience trying to lay out flames and use spray paint to paint with. I tried drawing on the flames on the primer for the front fender and decided that there was no way i was goin to be able to mask it off. I wanna "freehand" some on the sides of the bike with some of that thin vinyl tape. Im atleast goin to attempt it.

haha, im all about stunting on a minty bike "glamma stunna" stunt pieces are nice, but tricks look sooo much sweeter on a bike that isnt all fuxored IMO haha.
And when i drop it... i dont have to take it to have it resprayed. Spray paint is the next best thing besides zipties!

try and get some very thin (less than 1/4 inch) painting tape and try taping off the sections you want to paint flames onto...ive seen it on tv and looked like it would work
buddy of mine just rattlecanned flames onto his sv1k and i think it looks sick, good luck with it

Re: First Spray paint layed on the F2
are you painting the rest of the bike silver and leaving the flames blue? If you want silver flames then pin stripping won't do **** for you. I'm not sure what you're lookin to get here. If you want silver flames you have to mask off everything you want to stay blue... The 1/4 inch blue painters tape works really well. put some newspaper behind it as well to handle to overspray. And be sure to post the pics when you're done!

Re: First Spray paint layed on the F2
you shouldnt spray paint your bike.....dont get me wrong it looks good but are you clearing your paint job? it will protect it better. if you want to take the cheap way out you should go to car quest and get them to mix paint and put it in a spray can for you at least you can get some better colors to chose from .... just remember to clear them

Re: First Spray paint layed on the F2
colors? ****, the color i picked out matches the color on my bike damn near to a T. The silver is damn close to my vinyl graphics color too haha.
Mixing paint involves me having to do that every damn time i lay my bike over. Im not doing it because im a cheap ***. Im doing it so i dont have to repaint my bike once a month because of scratches.
And when you drop a spray painted bike and it gets scratched your 1/2 as pissed off as when you are when you drop a freshly painted bike. Trust me i was pissed for like half a week when i first scratched my minty F2.

Looks awesome good man!!! Yeah, I know what you mean about not being as pissed off when you drop it with just spray paint. I spent a decent chunk of cash to have my 1st bike all painted up nice and pretty when I first got it last year, well as you know it didn't stay nice and pretty very long at all lol, so I learned from it. Actually I'm thinking of taking the rattle can to my GSXR here soon, it's been down on both sides so I'm at least gonna touch it up or sumshit.
Peace

Try drawing the flames on a bigg piece of paper/whatever and cut them out, then just put that as a mask over plastics without being close-tight with plastics, and spray it. Because there's space between plastics and mask/paper the spray will spray around little bit and you'll get something like airbrush effect...
P.S. just try it out on something else first to get the hand of it, and to not ruin your plastics with it first time...
