Finally bought the bike! ! ! wat to do now??
Ok, Out of frustration cuz I can't get my GS5 running, I stormed in the house, threw some tools around in rage, grabbed my wallet, went to the nearest bike store, and bought a 2002 Honda CBR F4i (mint condition, fresh from the showroom floor.).. Love the bike! ! ! here are a few things about it tho: W/ the GS, I wasn't scared of reving high, cuz I know it's not gonna throw me over, no way I could loop it... W/ this bike, I get scared of the revs! ! ! I tried pulling the front wheel up, but got scared, dropped the throttle, and dug my nuts into the tank (yea, kinda like htat feeling.) w/ stock gearing, anyone know where's a good place to have my speed and my RPM's to get 1st and 2nd gear wheelies up? (pls b serious.. cuz if you tell me to drop the clutch at redline while at 0mph, I prolly would do it. yes, gullable like that.)
Another thing, waht should I do, protection wise for the bike?? I'm already pretty set on a 905 cage, maybe a 12 bar (even though I know I'm not hitting 12's anytime soon.), and lookin' into a chain and sprocket set (lookin' at 1down, or 1down 1up.. I don't wanna mess up my gas mileage or revs quite yet.) any help on good places to go buy these??
one last hting... I noticed, that after like 2hrs of city driving in about 72degree weather (today's weather forcast for San diego.. SOCAL RULES ! ! !), but my temp got up pretty high.. I heard a beep, and the thermostat reading was highest I saw at 227deg. farenheit. is this normal?? or should I be worried?
Thanks for all the help.. yes, I'm a squid.. damn proud.. but hey.. at least I'm askin' the right guys for help.. or am i??

I'm gonna stunt (once I start digging my ***** out of the gastank and enlarging them to the size enough to do wheelies again.).. I just happen to get a good *** price for the F4i.. Plus at work everyone and their mommas got 600rr's.. not to mention I heard it's front end heavy, making it hard to lift the front up..

Not sure why you went and bought a bike off the showroom floor to stunt. Doesn't make sense to me. Just be careful and take it easy. If the f4i is to much get a

Re: Finally bought the bike! ! ! wat to do now??
lmao.. it was an impulse buy thing.. I don't wanna be hardcore take out Tony D type stunter, but I do want to get up front or back, do wahtever else, and learn. I'm not expecting this bike to stay as clean as when I took it off the floor. But trying to keep a median between babying and trashing.. If I crash it, I crash it.. If I don't, then sweet.. I don't expect to be all Mr. Superman 12er or anything quite yet, but I do want to get the basics down.. Sitdowns, straddling standups, stoppies, skitching, and any other good starts to get with.. I'm not bustin' circle wheelies anytime soon if ever.. but I do wanna get started somewhere.. and as everyone on this board told me, F4i would be the best starter bike..
btw: Is it normal for the bike to get over 220 degrees F?

220 degrees always show up on my bike if i do stop and go. If your bike has high miles things get abuse and don't sweat it make sure everything correct oil, coolant, etc. stock gearing comes up gas for me by let it off then replying to get the feel of the power and the jerk it throw. I never could get second stock i went -1 +2 and still hit 160mph no problem comes up secon like a champ and third if you power. Moto-heaven will get it to you in three days. Good luck on your new bike........

daym ! ! ! F4i's can hit 160?! I barely took it 145, before I felt like I was lifting off the seat... Thanks for the tips.. Will prolly do that.. Thing is, bike only had 3000 miles when I bought it.. but I'm comfy w/ this temp now.. thanks a bunch

That thing will probably wheelie 2nd gear no problem. Just stand up put your left foot on the rear peg. Cover your brake, ride smooth at the very bottom of the power band (which i'm guessing is probably about 8k rpm on an F4i) with one finger pull in the clutch, quickly and smoothly let it out, while rolling on the throttle....there ya go you are doing a wheelie.

take a look around before you settle for a 905. they have a bar that goes in between the headers it knocks off oil filters when you wreck hard.

I know the basics on how to wheelie.. I've wheelied my 500 like there's no tomrorow (not high though, as it can't really go that high. maybe 2 feet off the ground or so... maybe also why it blew up.) I'm just scared w/ all the power under me now, that I'd loop it.. hence why I want a cage b4 I try anything..at least save as much of the bike as I can

Re: Finally bought the bike! ! ! wat to do now??
Making a change from a Gs500 to a F4i is like going from a Ford Pinto to a late model Cobra.
Your gonna experience all kinds of different things not just from the power of the engine but from the brakes, suspension and chasis too.
have fun but keep it safe
Learn the way that engine makes power. if your gonna try to wheelie it
clutch it up around 7 grand, stock gearing will be around 35 40 mph
but give it very little imputs with the throttle compared to the gs
Good luck!

So you have a gs500 huh? that funny so do I! I have a 04 and mine wouldn't start one night. It ends up the cylinder wasnt getting any oil pressure so the dealership is fixing mine under warranty! They are also doing the cams for free! :YEAH
