Where/How to Dent in your Tank?
I was just wondering are there any shops that sell or will dent in your tank? Ive noticed sum ppl have dented tanks that look real clean almost like a machine did it, while others look like crap.

Re: Where/How to Dent in your Tank?
There are a good number of past threads on this if you do a search you should find some of the answers.
Some of the best ones have had body work done after the tank it smashed in to smooth it out real nice.
Not gonna close the thread but I moved it from Stunt Discussion to How-to forum since it's a How-to topic.
Later.

Re: Where/How to Dent in your Tank?
Ok, here's how i did mine:
First start hammering around the gas cap, while goin around the cap in circle's. Ounce the tank starts to dent, start working your way farther and farther away from the cap while still going in a circle. Ounce you get the cap and about 5-8" outside of it dented down fairly nice, start working your way from the already dent'd portion out to the front/rear and sides of the tank. To get a nice contour between the dent, and the factory shape of the tank, take a Golfball, and place it on the outside edge's of the dent and hit it with the rubber mallet (don't hit your fingers, duhh). Ounce that's good, you can use the golfball to also smooth out the highspots to the rest of the tank. I used this on my F4i tank, and it came out very nice, and will require little to no bondo to make it perfectly smooth. Check out my post in the stuntpics section for what it looks like. My dish is just a bit too small for me, and not really deep enough, so i'm gonna go do somemore hammerin to it 2morrow.

the best method i found is givin me a 12 pack, and lettin me jump on that ****.... some ppl do a acid drop with their ***, but i won't do that...so i stand and jump...always works good enough for me...i think if you sit and use a mallet..it becomes a lil much, going to be very hard to make it perfect..just remember..get the back down more, probly don't even need to hammer the front... if you even wanna hammer it... on my new one i'll probly just use grip tape till my *** naturally dents it

I had a gixxer and I set a phone book on the tank and hit it with a hammer great results and I did not scratch the paint.

I tried doing a search but came up with all these F/S adds instead of info. Ive also noticed thast sum ppls gas caps are raised a little from the rest of the dent in area. Does this just happen? Ive seen some whos managed to get it flush.

when i was hammering on mine, the part of the lock that goes towards the inside of the tank crack'd. I think it just one of those things thats gonna happen when you start hammering on it. i'm just gonna get a vortex cap, and not have to worry about carrying a key for it all the time.

start in the middle and work out. if you want me to do it, send me your tank and it will look like it was stamped out. ill do it if you pay shipping, but you will probly need to repaint the top of the tank. paint doesnt flex that much.
