why does a 900rr flood out on 12 bar?
Just wondering if anyone out there knows how to cure my 900rr problem of flooding out in the 12'o clock position. Its a 93 but has 99 carbs, wiring and engine. Its dificult to get any other tricks going like apehangers ect. couse the thing stalls out from flooding out. Is this normal for this bike or does anybody have any ideas ? Besides the obvious like "buy a fuel injected bike"

it's common. usually it's because the floats open up too much and flood out the engine. try adjusting your float height. Also, some guys turn off the gas petcock when doing bar tricks to get them to last a little longer.

Ok Just figured it out this weekend. What you have to do is get rid of the pump and run a vacum pet****. I adjusted my floats 2mm lower (leaner) and used a strong zip tie to tie the carbs to the front frame brace just in front of the carbs. This tilts them foreward slightly.Loosening the carb lover clamps helps to do this. Than re tighten them in that foreward position. Now the thing sits there and idles nice all day long.
I havent rode it yet cause its full blown winter here but im sure the other carb circuts like the needle and main jet are a bit on the lean side now. So i will likey have to put in a fatter (richer) main and lift the needle a touch to make it run sweet everywhere else.I love my 9 for stunting. So i glad i don't have to get a new bike now. Hope this helps all the 9 riders out there

One more thing. It is now a must to have a full tank unfortunaty. Once the bike is on the 12 bar the fuell must be higher than the carbs for it to gravity feed in. I will know more as i get to try it more and work out the bugs if any. Right now it seems to run good on the bar in the shop.www.canadianchaos.com

I've been thinking about fixing that problem too. But i wanted to try to change the angle of my carbs. But then i must change the air filter too. I think it 's a small angle because if the 12've o'clock bar is 15 cm off the ground i have no problems.
But thanks for the good advice !!!!!
