Re: Whelies and oil

i run about 3/4 quart over, but if you aren't balanced out for over a mile, it won't really do much to the motor.

slow stuff when the bike is super high and long long long balance point stuff at high rpm is the only times you need to run extra oil. It also never hurts to have more oil

Re: Whelies and oil

Just for the record on my 954 I don't have to run extra oil right since it has the pickup in the rear?

FHL it wont hurt to run a little extra, especially if you're riding long ones. im pretty sure the pick up is towards the rear, but it still wouldnt hurt. it will hurt if you run TOO much though

Re: Whelies and oil

just dump oil all over it. you'll have oil every where and wont have to worry about it any more

it will only hurt if you fill it to the point in which there is no air space in the cases. On most hondas that means over 6 quarts of oil total. Otherwise running a quart over doesn't do anything because there is still air space in the cases therefore the only thing picking up oil is the oil pickup.

Put a pressure guage on one of your oil lines and check it, pressure doesn't rise until you are over 2 quarts past recommended.

Re: Whelies and oil

run a little more oil than usual. but if you want your bike to run as it is intended then drop the pan and modify the pickup to reach the back of the pan. there is nothing more important than keeping adequate oil intake because if there is less than usual you are causing damage whether you think it is running well or not :YEAH :YEAH anyone from a shop can help you, or if you have a welder, research and do it yourself :YEAH

Re: Whelies and oil

you cant move the oil pickup any farther back on the 954 than it already is.
