Question sub frame??

i recently got a sport bike from a friend of mine who had a pretty bad wreck the body was trashed and the sub frame is bent pretty good becase he fliped ot over rollin a stoppie, but other than that the bike is in great condition and i was just wondering what you guys thought about building a subframe myself i mean i have a buddy who can weld and all that really good but how do u think i should go about doing it and what kind of metal should i use(size) and how to brace it to make it as strong as possible

Re: sub frame??

in my latest steel rearset experience i learned that it is great when a rearset does not break everytime you crash, but it's even worse when it finally brakes and takes the mount holes with it so the nest rearset has to be welded on so i guess my advise is not to fab a sub frame of your ownp, especially when there are so many on ebay for cheap! :YEAH :YEAH

i say go ahead and make your own subframe. but dont make it to strong to where its stonger than your frame. i plan on making one for mine. i just got two of those for $1200, a 98 and a 95.

i think im gonna use 1 by 1 box tube. and i'm gonna try to make it to where i can bolt and unbolt the subframe. i can send you some pics when i start doing it. and send me some if you start before me. i dont know if these bikes would make a good stunt bike but i figure a cage and gearing should do wonders.
