I think a lot depends on how you ride the bike. Of course you wanna stunt but how do you get to the spot? I live in a small town with no freeways. I'm -1/+21, So it's comfortable fo me. But if i lived in a huge city then i wouldn't like it. And i hate towing my **** to the spot, unless im out of town. lol

Re: Help me choose gearing

I run +16 on my 636. It's just about perfect! I've also got a -1 but I haven't felt the need for it yet. Call Phil at Moto-Heaven. 814-563-7292 He'll set you up nice. I think I gave $180 shipped for my sprockets and and x-ring chain. Also, it only took 3 days for it all to get here! That's SERVICE!! :YEAH

Re: Help me choose gearing

Thanks guys I think Im gonna get a +16 and a -1 and start out with just the +16.

Kyle what chain did Phil give you for that price? And how many links was it? He quoted me on the sprocket but I didnt ask about chains.

Oh and are you guys using a 525 pitch or a 520?

Thanks again

I can't remember what brand mine was. It was a top name brand though. I run 520, all you need on a 600.

not to jack the thread but......

i have a 01 gixxer 600

-2 +16

it is really twitchy in 1st, should i get a front sprocket (stock)? will that take away some of the twitchiness, or is it cause i have a decent size rear sprocket on the ****?

thanks and sorry for the thread jack

yes it will make it less twitchy but only becuz u will be running less gearing. i just ordered my sprocket two days ago from phil and i got 16/60 which is stock front +12 rear. i got the stock front mostly to make it more adjustable if i want more gearing rather than goin -1/+8

Re: Help me choose gearing

i just paid $218 shiped from phil for , 954 stuff

56 tooth (13 up),. new stock front, and new x chain with teh gold glamma upgrade :YEAH

i would get a +20 and no -1. why ? i dont like the idea of the front spinning more, and i hearits smoother, plus the 20 would look more bad *** than teh 16, theres a little glamma in everyone LOL hahaha holla at phil tho

Re: Help me choose gearing

Phil Caudill.. THE guy to go to for Sprockets/Chains. www.moto-heaven.com . I don't think the website is finished yet, just email him: phil@moto-heaven.com I think.. and paypal him the same.. Shipped to Canada for me, +18 rear and -1 front on a Gix 7fiddy along with the sexi X-Ring chain. A buddy and myself threw it on in minutes. (Well hour or 2 and some swearing.. but only cuz we suck at the mechanical end. well I do anyway. )

Re: Help me choose gearing

yeah that will work good LainLo you can even go bigger in the back if you want call Phil at moto heaven (like everyone laready said) he will hook you up with waht you want just tell him how your wanting to ride the bike....

wish i would have ordered from moto heaven i went sprocket specialties i all orderd was a 61 tooth rear (14 up from stock for me) and it took about 6 weeks to get here cause they have to make them as you order them but i saved alot of $$$$ cuz the sprocket was only $80 and my friend works for a local bike shop so he hooked me up with tha chain
so i didn't end up payin 200+ for my set up i just had to wait FOREVER to get it
guess that just goes to show you pay for service too not just quality
