twisties and cages

Re: twisties and cages
each cage fits different on each bike.
my 905 sticks out pretty far on my f2, I've drug it a couple times in slow corners.
FI cages have the removeable hoop, which isnt a bad idea.
Check out MXD cages, I think they have 'track cages' or somthing along those lines that dont go under the bike.
And I dont know about powers cages

huh?? i scrape fairings when riding hard, how is a cage NOT gonna scrape? the only one i know of like that is the mxd trackday cage, but that doesnt seem like it would have the strength to protect as much as other cages...

this won't scrape in the twisties?? better twist that wrist a little more! lol
for real though, certain bikes work better with certain cages...and it is good for the industry to have choices...but if you want stunt protection AND the ability to hit the twisties without having to take your entire cage off, then FI sounds like the cage for you..i've run FI and 905...905 is very tough and i had no problems with it at all, great customer service as well. FI is my choice for cages cuz you can hit the twisties...

Re: twisties and cages
why chance dragging knee with a cage? thats not a smart idea. i rode raced for 2 years, and i was dragging everything, and i had my suspension set up sweet!my friend tried ridiing on a track day with a cage and drugg *** and didnt have fun cause he worried about falling and breaking stuff. if you are gonna do twisties, track days, or race.....there should be nothing more than sliders. the cages will keep you from movement on the bike while in corners.

check out www.mxdcages.com we make some cages for the daily rider that likes to stunt.
hey teach, why dont you let me send you a track cage to test out, then you can see how they work, instead of just saying they probly dont?

meaning, i dont think it will take as much abuse as a stunt only cage....if it did, there wouldnt be a choice between the 2 cages. i think your track cage is a great idea, never tried to take anything away from it.
and if you wanna send me one!!! i'll DEF try it out!
believe me, i think that diff manufacturers are GOOD for the sport and they are good for each other...

you said it doesnt protect as much as other cages. the reason we have 2 diferent kinds is mainly because the track cages dont sell that well because no one has tried them out.
look at the physics of a crash and the impact the cage takes. the fi loop is about 6 ft long, and will give a ton because of the longer length. they use a . 156 wall to make it stronger. now take a .120 wall 2 ft long tube, much shorter and much stronger. (imagine tackling a 7 ft 200 lb guy, then a 5ft 200 lbs guy, the 7ft will go over way easier) the impact hits at a single point that distributes the energy to 2 mounts that are going from the front of the bike to the back of the bike. now on a loop design, the impact is going from one side of the bike, to the other side of the bike, which is why so many people flip the bike onto the top of the tank.
