alright-have a 2002 gsxr 1000, and the guage lights come on, as does the mileage, but the speedo and tach dont work-what could cause this? thanks, Mike

ehh. short in wire check connections to battery and stuff. there was just something up on this but I think it was f4i

u got 600 or 750 gauges on there or have you swapped the headlight harness out by chance?

what Lb3 said. I did the same thing to my gixxer before last. Make sure harness is right, guages are correct, then last check your fuses.

i got the bike like this-i have extra 1k gauges so i guess ill try those-but otherwise-is there anyway to tell if the wiring is wrong-i was under the impression that if it plugs in itll work-ive used 02 1k gauges on an 00 750 and reverse, i know the wiring changed year to year but i heard its not compatible so it wont plug in? is there anything else i can check? thanks, Mike

That's what I used to think, but it's not correct. For example, I tried using 02 600 front harness on my 1000, and it made the gauges not work correctly (I don't remember what exactly happen but something went wrong). I switched the harness back out for the 1K, and it worked great. The harness conectors were the same, however, the cables in side connects to different things. (not the same wiring in the harness).

Put the spare 1K gauges on with a 1K harness, and you'll be good to go
