help!

I got some metal flakes/chips in my gas tank by accident. Is my bike going to be OK? Im afraid to start it up because I have heard some horror stories about getting sugar/bb's/etc. in your gas tank

Re: help!

It seems unlikly that metal chips are the cause.. therer is a reason you have a fuel filter or atleast a screen... if you tipped over it could be oil in the intake from the crankcase vent or oil seeping past the rings. either way it should be fine after it runs a few min..

Re: help!

when my bike is on its side after a wreck or just dropping it from circle burnouts, it sometimes smokes like crazy. It just oil getting into the airbox and burning up. It comes out of the headers, the pipe... It's a thick smoke too. After a few minutes of letting the bike run it all goes away. I doubt that you got metal in the gas line, Depending on what kinda bike you got you just have to clean the tank out. If its a fuel injected bike then. Take the tank off and clean it out before it clogs the fuel pump. If its carburated then clean all the fuel lines. Even the carbs and jets. I dont think its smoking because of metal in the gas tank.

Re: help!

just take the tank off, pour it out,put some more gas in,shake it around and pour it out again..should clean it all out.

is it really that easy, i thought the fuel filter would hold it together and then splash everywhere when you unhooked it
