F3 motor in F2???

so i buy this F2 off ebay for 900 bucks in decent shape, its supposed to run once the battery is charged, plugs changed etc... i expect a fixxer upper no big deal..
i go to fill it full of coolant, theres a 5" long crack in the block cuz the coolant jacket froze cuz a dipshit didnt put enough antifreeze in.
Theres no F2 motors on ebay, will a F3 motor fit in? will the electronics line up?
thanks

an f3 motor is the same except for it has a diff hook up for the speedo... f2 goes to the front wheel... f3 has a speed sensor thing so you might have probs with guages workin ... well the tack anyway ... other than that i've put an f2 in my f3 with no probs ... same block , mounting ... everything... all the wiring harness plug are the same .

Re: F3 motor in F2???

an f3 has a fuel pump, the f2 doesnt so youll have to figure that part out. theres somethin slightly different that doesnt let the f3 fit under the tank also i think, i just cant remember what it is. im sure you could swap over carbs or whatever though if you need to

Re: F3 motor in F2???

there is a throttle position sensor on the f3 carbs on the left side. if you use your f2 carbs you won't have any problem, but if you use f3 carbs you have to ground that pink wire on that and you'll have to cut a notch out of your frame on the left side for clearance. it's not that big of a mod....maybe 5 minutes with a die grinder.

yep, they are essentially the same bike except they tried some ram air circuit thing on the f3 carbs.

if you just take the block and use the carbs and everything else from your f2 it'll work perfectly. i think all of our bikes have f2 frames, and 2 of them have f3 motors. we had to notch them all for the carbs to fit though.

it's very small, maybe a 1/2" wide notch out of the left side frame rail on the inside....you woudln't notice it unless you were fitting some carbs and they kept hitting and you compaired 2 frames....haha (been there).
