Personally, I don't think either is more dangerous, I think it's all in the rider. If you learn to clutch it up, and get to cormfortable, you could clutch it to hard and loop.
If you learn to power it up, and get comfortable, you'll loop.
Highway stand-ups=power
slow ****, 1st=clutch
that is what the guys i've been talkin to say.....they might be squids though
.....but i don't have a bike.......so this post don't matter...

Re: Power Wheelies!?!?
I read the first page but not the rest, so excuse me if I'm repeating anybody. I recently was going to buy a gix 750 from someone but I found out that 1st gear would pop in and out, and later found out that it was because he was doing 1st gear power wheelies (couldn't get it up in 2nd) and was trying to shift to 2nd while in the wheelie. Basically he screwed it up one to many times and bent or broke the shifter fork.
Now the reason that he was trying to shift was because he wanted to do faster wheelies but could only get it up in first, meaning to get into a higher gear to go faster he had to shift mid-wheelie.
You can wheelie a bike at much higher speeds clutching it up that powering it up, And as I'm sure everyone has said, you're a lot more likely to flip or go over to the side when you're power sitdowning than standing-clutching. My 2 cents

Re: Power Wheelies!?!?
i was out all day today powering 3rd gear sit downs...i was floating that **** way back there too,BUT i know when to let off the throttle..if you have enough sence to roll off the throttle at a stop light why not in a wheelie?

Re: Power Wheelies!?!?
i think... and i may be wrong... but this guy isn't talking about a "normal" power wheelie. in the sense that you peg the gas and wait till she comes up. personally... and i'm not a stunter, but can rock stand ups for miles... i throttle all mine up unless it's under 15-20 mph. with a 1k +4 on the rear, i whack the throttle wide open, and right to bp. haven't ate **** yet. although on 600's without sprockets, aside from first gear, i look like an a$$ clown trying to get it up. to each his own, but if you wanna rock slow **** you're gonna have to learn to clutch it. my

Re: Power Wheelies!?!?
i think its funny as **** how all stunters and attempted stunters have some missconception that power wheelies are dangerous, plenty of non stunters bust 3rd and 4th geer powerwheelies all day long, go watch some turbo videos
those mother****ers powerwheelie in 5th and 6th and they are fine, its just like anything ele, a matter of not overstepping ones abilities

as for power wheelies, i still bounce some 2nd gear stand up's up, and can ride em for miles. i do prefer clutchin but ive never had a problem powering it up. i learned to ride stand-ups by bouncing 2nd gear.

Re: Power Wheelies!?!?
for those of you who don't know, clutching a bike up harnesses the power and you control the power of the bike, as it comes up. by hammering the throttle, you have less control over the POWER of the bike. and yes it's true. i don't care about all these guys who say "i got control and i bounce it up and i power wheelie and i'm good and blah blah blah"
bottom line. make a poll. title it "do you Clutch or Power a wheelie." all the top known stunters will prove this point.
