Question f4i gearing

i have a pretty much stock f4i and i can ride the hell outa it but i have to really wrench on it sometimes to pull it up in 3rd (i dont use a clutch, doin stand ups) after i get it up i can ride it out really well but i would just like to be able to have it pull up just a little easier in third in the powerband, i dont however want to loose top speed bastards around here wanna die fast as apposed to painfully. can anybody suggest a new ratio that would give me the little bit more pick up im lookin for? thanks for your help :YEAH

Why can't you use 2nd? There's more engine brake and you shouldn't be going faster than 100 in a wheelie anyway. If you want to gear it to make it slightly easier I had -1 on my 600 and liked it, but I'd probably go as far as -1 +2 if you want to keep most your top end.

well thats the thing is that i want my top but i like that i can rip up a wheelie in 3rd and get up to 110 and the guy whose been riding longer on a brand new R1 drops his when he did a 70mph pick up and im still cruisin. i love it and i definatley have the control to do them cause i can make adjustments on course while still keepin it up.

Re: f4i gearing

go with a 55 tooth from www.thrustcompany.com you'll still get about 115mph out of it and plenty of power. Get a replacement for the front too, same size as stock

Re: f4i gearing

Lol... don't do that that's crazy gearing, my f2 tops out at about 100 and it's not good gearing for a street bike trust me. I've got -1 +12. I like it for my stunt bike but I'd never put it on my 954.

Re: f4i gearing

drop one in the front then if you dont like it you can allways get a rear spocket. the advantage to droping just one in the front is you dont need to buy a new chain and i guarentee you'll like it. but i agree bring it up in second is enough for me.

Re: f4i gearing

Try -1...if not enough 4 u add 2 in the rear. -1 and +2 you should only lose 15 to 20mph on your top speed.
