Re: Header Wraps Or Exhaust
I dont think it will stop it from overheating, this may help a little bit because your headers wont be putting off heat directly at your radiator, I think you need to look into other things....

Re: Header Wraps Or Exhaust
...Isn't header wrap for holding the heat IN? Making the exhaust temperature hotter, and more consistent?
Sure it wouldn't put off as much heat to the radiator, but it would be holding it IN the motor

Re: Header Wraps Or Exhaust
drag racers wrap headers because it drops the temp of the engine bay dramatically, keeping the intake air colder= more power
and some people do it for looks, and there is really no downfall in a car.
on a motorcycle i guess it would help keep the radiator colder and hide the ugly stock header esp. on a f4i they have the ugliest exhaust manifold.
i would worry about the engine overheating i dont think it would effect it much, it would prolly run cooler because of the effects on the radiator

Re: Header Wraps Or Exhaust
Nope, it actually helps the exhaust gas stay hot so that the exhaust gas velocity can be higher...the hotter the exhaust, the faster it can move through the pipes.
It will help the bike, but I really think if you are having a true overheating problem (boiling over and stuff like that) that you need to look into what is causing the problem, not just treating the symptoms. Make sure your cooling system is working right and flush the system, change the thermostat, etc. But sure, wrap it! It won't hurt much. Possibly make the exhaust rust out a bit faster if you get it wet, but that is about it.
