Re: Thermostat Question
I feel you on this one. I've been having so many problems with my 636 overheating and spewing out fluid. I'm not sure what it is but I've tried many things. I'm thinking about replacing the thermostat but I haven't heard of them going bad.

Re: Thermostat Question
do what?..... your bike overheats when the t-stat stops the flow of coolant through the sytem, when you take it out there is nothing to regulate the flow of coolant so it runs wide open and your bike runs cooler...it wont hurt anything leaving it out but your bike will never run at optimum temp.

Re: Thermostat Question
too many people have told me you need to run the thermostat, running without it at this time of year is fine, but when the weather warms up it could pose a problem. i just dont feel comfortable without it in

Re: Thermostat Question
fyi (thermostat regulates the minimum operating temperature of the vehicle, therefore no thermostat means gonna take forever to get to operating temperature... in the winter it will suck but summer should be fine.) now the boiling water trick wont work... when your thermostat is in the bike it not only reacts to the heat but as the coolant gets hot it increases the pressure inside the cooling system which pushes the thermostat open.
im running without mine cause im cheap and i dont mind warming my bike up for 10 minutes at the lot before i start rippin. there is a noticeable difference stunting below operating temp so putting in a thermostat is the best thing to do.
