quick help please
right chaps, i am picking a up stunter from mr nick storm this friday and will begin my hurtfull journey into stunting , so i have a couple of questions and then i will ask no more as an *** in the seat is better than an *** at the computer.
1- what tyre psi is best for general stunts, slow wheelies etc , i heard that a higher psi is needed for drifting .. ?
2- slow wheelies like from a standing start 1st or 2nd gear ?
3- wheelies to stand or not to stand up ? seems like a better place to be standing up over the pivot point ...
any help is greatly appreciated and i hope after a year of trying i might even do some comps for a laugh .... and if all else fails i will grow my hair get a set of **** and be lady stunter as from what i can see they get most of the attention !
on a serious note tho , i have watched most of everyones vids on youtube and you lot are ******* brilliant and deserve far more attention than a pair of ***** on a bike .
peace
jonny....

Re: quick help please
try starting at 20 psi standup wheeleis are best for learning both feet on rear pegs using handbrake or left on rear, right on front and use footbrake. once you have practaced a bit try increasing tyre pressure a bit its personal prefrance what pressure ya use though. good look bro see ya at the comps

Re: quick help please
Yeah I used 15psi when I was starting out, makes it more stable for slow speed straight line stuff.
Then you pump it up when your circling/drifting.
Tip i always say is, make sure your at a dead stop before you launch the wheelie *ie balance with both feet up* that way, the wheelie is slow from the start, rather than pulling it up at 10mph, and already having to scrub more spead off.
Also, get some armour.
Second gear?? wtf is that

Re: quick help please
you can circle at low psi but most find it easier with higher its just personal prefrance. but you aint gunna be doing that for a lil while

Re: quick help please
you could circle with low psi but once you get them then it will be easier with more psi to get them tighter but it will be a while till that and at comps we are all happy to help
good luck and we want to see vids

read the basics on here: pretty useful stuff

I'd start at 15psi (i think I actualy startedbon like 12) low pressure reduces the left/right wobble.
turn the idle up to about 3k rpm (so the shoe idle mod points towards the back of the bike (maybe down 15degrees)) this helps reduce the twitchyness on low revs.
Not sure what stage you're at but might be worth doing the throttle mod too. basically involves drilling and tapping through the twist grip in to the handle bar, then filing a small slot in the twist grip. put a screw in the hole - means you can only use 1/2 throttle max (depending on how long the slot is. This stops you pinning the throttle and forces you to get teh clutch right and bring the bike up to nearer BP quicker, rather than chasing the revs all the time.
everyones got their own techinique so do what feel most comfortable to begin with. I'd recommend foot in seat (left foot in seat, right foot in normal position) roll along just under idle speed (5pmh) with your weight on the left foot (back middle) otherwise the bike will twist. start SMALL... tiny, cos the bike will launch twisted til you get your weight distributed centrally. make sure you've got the back brake covered.
another easier starting option is sit down *** drag. left foot draggin on the floor - helps stability and the foot is a useful measure of how high the wheelie is. allows you to keep right foot on brake.
also quite a good idea to have a bail out stratey in mind if things go **** up (but don't bail too early, lots of mistakes can be recovered) i.e. if you're gunna bail- jump out the way, and as you go try and help the bike land on its wheels.
good luck!!!! and keep us posted.
