Is there a clear difference between the two tanks?

I've bought a tank suposedly for an f-sport, the fuel pump fits in fine but its pissing out petrol... the seal doesn't seem like the right fit, unless it's just a case of needing a new seal as the manual does say to fit a new seal every time you replace/remove the fuel pump.


So is there a clear difference? I figured the fx/fy tank wouldn't take a f sports pump at all hence why I'm a bit baffled. The tank also bolts in perfectly and looks like its the right one cosmetically. It's also in almost mint condition so I'm gonna be well pissed if it's an fx/fy one!

 

Well Sparks, you have rightly come on line just as the expert (myself) is on here.

I would say the clear differance is, the fx tank is for an fx and the fy tank is you guessed it, for the fy.

Cool C, the FX is the same as an FY.... lmao....

Sparks, as far as im aware, a f4i has a big hole on the bottom, and the FX/FY has a small tube with a thread on that comes off, for the fuel tap.
You have the right tank, just a sealing problem, look down the forum a bit, think Max had the same issue

I'd try one more time and make sure everythings tucked in propally if it still leaks it'll be your seal mine was and it looked intact too, i bodged mine with electrical tape though

 

How on earth did you bodge it with electrical tape? haha.. maybe PTFE tape but electrical tape? crazy.
