New tank dent
Thought ya might like to see the tank dent i done last week.
Its more than just a dent. I had to cut the top of the tank out and raise the rear edge. The trouble with 636 is the tank slopes away to the rear so if ya want the dent to go a long way back it becomes to low. Also the cap hits the bottom of the tank. Ya cant get fuel in or see how much ya got in it. I moved the cap back and now ya can pull through a lot easier and froggers are easier.
I tried it at the weekend. It is a lot better but i just gotta get used to it for some tank tricks.
Thought i would post this up instead of the normal hate threads ya get on here lately
Oh yeah the bit i put in is 2mm plate so it does not dent as they normally do when ya jump or stand on the tank. Got this idea from Bill Ds bike at stunt wars !!!

Re: New tank dent
If ya cant pull through with them bars then ya never will
Looks great mate, but it looks like spreaders will be a pain? Looks perfect for highchair though.
Keith ya have to be careful when welding tanks!

Re: New tank dent
nice work as always ..
how did you deal with the overflow/vent tube ?
doesn't look like it will hold much gas though

Re: New tank dent
It holds a lot more fuel than ya think. I only fill my tank so it covers the pump any ways and it does that and some easy.
That tube from the cap down is only an over flow tube. Its goes from the underside of the cap through the tank and out the back so i just removed it and welded up the holes. The tank vent is in the cap so no worries !!!
Every one worries about welding tanks, if ya empty it properly leave it a day the fuel evaporates. I just chuck a match in it to make sure its all gone. I have done the match trick straight after emptying it and so long as all the holes (pump etc) are removed it just goes poof!!! I have been welding tanks for years never had a prob. Or perhaps im tempting fate here ha ha.

as far as the overflow i probably would have made that work if i were you
like you said the actual vent is in the cap but it allows some gas to get in the well around the filler hole..
normally that gas would flow out the overflow to the bottom of the tank and down a hose but now i think what may happen is the gas will get in to the well around the filler hole and then find it's way straight up your ****
don't know if you have ever had gas *** but it aint no fun
who knows maybe im wrong..
but if im not ,you my friend will surely know what gas *** feels like
