busted fork seal

Re: busted fork seal
running heavyr weight doesnt really help for a soft spring...
the springs job is to hold the shock at ride height. ride height is adjusted by preload adjusters. if preload adjusters are maxed out an bike still sags to much then springs are to soft.....
if the forks "feel" soft an thats what your calling the spring is soft then that means it just has really low amount of dampning, in the valving. an its probly not very progresssive set of valving . which means over the travel of the stroke the amount of dampning force doesnt not increase very much, were as a properly dialed in fork should have a decent amount of progressive'ness.. haha
i dunno if this makes sense...
but geting your suspension properly valved for your weight an riding style will help prevent blown seals and make your riding, whether it street stunt or strip, more consistant...
The End......

Re: busted fork seal
no doubt my explination is completely incorrect, ha ha
but the facts are my bike has soft springs and stiffer springs + 5wt & a revalve will make it better, which i think your agreeing with.
wish i knew as much about suspension as you, exept everytime i try and learn about it i get confused and board on the first page
thanks for your input though Kyle

no problem,,, suspensions hard to learn... i jus try an listen when i can an i am at the point i understand it, just dont want to valve it... i can dial it in an feel minor changes, but the labor part.. like making shim stacks for vaalves **** that, to truely do that right you have to understand fluid dynamics or whatever... im not that smart hahah
so i just have them dial it in... ive went back once since to fine tune...'
works awesome now...
but ya just adding heavy weight will just mask the problem in most situations....
blah blah blah enough... my brain hurts now haha
