I was wondering how powerful my hb should be i got a 1000rr master cylinder and full throttle adaptor but it seems a bit wooden just wondered if its just me or should it be enough. any suggestions ?

 

I personally don't like using a handbrake that i can'tlockup the rear wheel with one finger.

I also don't like it being too hard, because there's not enough feel for me.

its all personal preference really but the best I've used so far is a brembo 16x18 or a PT 16x18 clutch master.

At the end of the day, as long as it allows you to stop the bike from flipping then it'll do.

I would rather get used to feathering the brake because of how much power it has then get a sore finger because lack of power.
Dual caliper 4 piston is the way to go imo.

 

What Dave said really... I like them so that you can lock the rear wheel with 1 finger, but with a bit of a "spongy" feel, I can't stand brakes that are like a switch... Brembo 16x18 is best master out there I think... but the PT clutch master is a very close second.

 

is 16 bore 18 ratio better than 19 bore 20 ratio?

depends what you prefer, a 16x18 will have more feel to it and IMO is sharper, but the 19x20 should still give the same response ( i think), just will appear realli stiff.

 

I get you, so the wider the bore the more fluid it pushes = less leverage

 

DONt get a 19x20.. get a 16x18!!!

 

i have a 16x18 brembo, with cut down lever, and if i brake with four fingers, and no clutch, it wont stall the bike or lock the rear wheel....

I want dual caliper so bad!!!!

 

Magura all the way, 13mm and it kicks *** on the brembo ****.

 

i have just put a brembo 16x18 on and i still aint happy with it but im gonna try different pads anyone reccomend any

 

standard honda ALL the way. wouldn't use anything else personally. If it's still not all that great then you haven't bled it properly

 

Yeah a brembo 16x18 is more than enough for anybody on good pads.

mine is pretty good 16x18 brembo supermoto short lever (636) b model
adzz f4i with brembo 16x18 brembo folding lever andgled up sliglty is awesome locks up with wedding ring finger
ghostie i dont know what he got now cos it was dark but was pretty good but i could not ride his bike for **** cos cut down clutch lever really gangsta short

Lee's 13mm magura is the best setp up twin caliper adapter with 2 rear calipers from a 636 on his 636 c model it has loads of power and is the most progressive feel definatley the best brake set up i have ever rode with by a long way

im using the clutch master off a 1000rr and i like it but eventually going to get the hohey dual caliper setup but its all personal preference some like it soft and some like it hard, they are just like women

 

I rode an F4i with a Ho hey dual caliper with 4 pot rear... it was nice, but way too powerful for my likings. I've got a ho hey with a single pot ready to go on, i think that'll be good enough for me...

handbrakes are a personal preference thing really, whats good to one person is bad to another...

today alone I rode 5 different bikes and each handbrake was different even when 2 bikes have same set up?? weird.

Best out of the 5 suprisingly was Darrens with a full throttle adaptor and PT clutch master... altho it was a bit weak and tended to fade quite easily it gave the most feel and the lever itself was very comfortable. I want one

 

this is a good point but what you want a piece of wooden **** or a decent brake with progressive feel 13mm magura with dual caliper rear set up ie twin rear calipers not a front one with stock pads take the advice dont waste your money on something cheap they just wont be the same and will hold you back a newb needs good equipment if i had good stuff to start with i would be trying to turn in flamingos another 10mph faster alllready and if you wanna see how fast you can turn in with a brembo wait till dave does a little vid might have some of them on there confidence my son is what you need.

I am doing my bike up now as from this week and will be selling my set up but would not sell it to you for big bucks to rip off a newb just get the magura you will thank me one day

id rather pay £45 for a magura than £280 on brembo, especially cos im likely to smash it up.
