GSXR Idle cable install

Thanks to Lee for telling me how to find an idle adjuster cable, they are £47.00 from suzuki but this cost me just a tenner from 'Junction 25' breakers.

Whats confusing me is this idle adjuster comes with a brass looking bracket on it that doesn't seem to fit anywhere or come off, so before i get the hacksaw out I thought id better ask - WTF should i do with it?

Re: GSXR Idle cable install

Oh yeah, drilling a hole in the frame would enable it to mount properly.

Good thinkin birdie

Then i would need to tap the hole (if the alloy is thick enough) or pop rivet it.

Re: GSXR Idle cable install

The overflow bottle on the K1 is right beneath that allen bolt on the white fairing, next to the bracket. Could the cable mount there?

I was thinking of drilling a hole next to that big rubber stopper on the frame, but if its designed to mount next to the overflow bottle then...

find hole and cable tie, or leave it loose, it isn't gonna affect anything

Re: GSXR Idle cable install

I like birdies idea of drilling it inplace, thats if it doesn't already have a hole for it to bolt to.

My OCD wouldn't allow me to leave a bracket dangling like that

Re: GSXR Idle cable install

It wont drill to the top flat bit of the frame cos the cable it slightly too long and the hole would need to be in the bend.

So that leaves the side and im feeling too GAY to dare drill the side of my frame incase it goes wrong. But it would work best bolted there.

Re: GSXR Idle cable install

It wasn't sitting well on the bracket so its been hacksawed.

The end pokes out nice and neat under the tank, neat enough for me to sleep tonight anyway
