Re: UK Stunt Championship 2008

Six rounds is too much, the comps will be bad, the judging will be awful, they are only organising it to make money, giving little or no thought to the scene or the riders.

At this point I would say IMO, but I don't like mixing fact with opinion.

Sorry dave cant agree with this. Comp organisers dont make hardly any thing from comps. I know ive done some.
If they are giving no thought for the scene why is street fighter mag now full of stunting which is surely good for the scene. Which was down to straight liners talking to the mag.
But hey its all about opinon until it actually happens eh
Just my

sf mag being full of stunting has nothing to do with straightliners. i think straightliners calling this the uk championship is taking the **** when no uk riders have had any input into it. a lot of these comps are run by riders for riders i.e stuntwars , european stunt championship, etc and i think any uk championship should be the same

Ghostie - I agree with what ur saying about putting a price on shows etc but I don't agree that our "sport" will die if we don't put a price on it. I will do my 'sport' regardless of shows or comps, it won't die for me unless I die (or break even more bones )
The way I see it is there are 2 seperate parts to what we do:

1. Riding
2. Making/charging money.

The 2 are not automatically linked. stunters can ride quite happily without thinking about money - infact when I ride I usually forget about everything else cos I'm lovin what I'm doing.

As far as I know other than this championship *there are no other competitions* in the UK. If someone is willing to go to the effort of organising a comp for the the thing I love most then I think they deserve some respect, and at the least they deserve to be heard before being slated as a money grabbing, show stealing monsters.

Yes Straightliners are likely (but not garanteed) to make some money from the hundreds of hours of organisation that goes in to making events like this possible, but woopy do, is that such a bad thing? Any sponsors of riders are hoping to make money from the stunter!!!! That doesn't mean the stunter is being exploited.

SBF was awesome, everyone agrees. There's a DVD made of the comp too - they're likely to make cash off that - Does that mean we should hate on SBF? I don't think so.

I hope these comp's generate a lot of interest and get a lot of entries and a big crowd, watching because that in turn will mean more fun, more sponsors for those who want it, more covereage in the biker press, more people buying stunt dvd's from those who sell them... and more people loving what we love.
+1 Nick

Vandal I agree with your points too. I have only ever spent my money doing the things I enjoy. No-one ever paid me when I've blew motorcross bikes up or bent frames in enduros or crashed on track days all of which has a spectator element and your entertaining people at your expense. Theres no differance here with the stunt comp I paid them to enjoy myself.

Do you know that for sure? Street fighter mag are covering every comp that straight liners are putting on. They are def in contact with the mag trevor told me.
I agree comp put on for riders by riders is a great idea trouble is only jon jon is putting his neck on the line and doing just that. The other prob is that may not be on this year either so that leaves no comps !!!!!
As to riders not having any input into the comp trevor has asked twice on this forum how do the riders want it run but has had no feed back.
At the end of the day i just wanna ride so do alot of others on this forum who are staying quite but like last time turn up at the comp and ride.
I also just wanna ride and dont wanna get involved in the politics of this any more. I feel like im the only one brave enough to say im going.
Hey Dazz why dont ya drag ghostie and ya self and come up and ride with us????
