Re: UK Stunt Championship 2008
Sorry bud, I just checked the date list, they are at 3 different places BUT the whole of the UK is smaller than florida you can get from one place to the other in a few hours... and I tihnk all 3 are in the same sort of region so its no big problem.....

Re: UK Stunt Championship 2008
i think i wanna go but im not goin 2 them all... i do think 6 is a bit much, there isnt thousands of stunters so every comp will be similar as in the same people doin well everytime... i think 3 would have been better, it would have gave people more time 2 get better inbetween, i wanna know about the prizes not that im entering but it would give an idea if there more like proper comps than just glorified practice days... either way ts still good for stunters 2 get 2gether...

Re: UK Stunt Championship 2008
ive been tought a valuble lesson today, we as stunters really need to put a price on what we do or the sport really will die out, as we get shows then some newb comes in and under cuts us the event organisers are going to want everything next to nothing, well this (in my opinion) is just the same, everyone is sooooo eager to ride that they will just do it for free, this is not practice guys, someone will be making money off of this, if this carrys on, in the near future there will be no shows to ride at but instead there will be 50 comps in the uk as the event organisers dont have to pay you to ride....
Just think!
Just think!
Ghostie - I agree with what ur saying about putting a price on shows etc but I don't agree that our "sport" will die if we don't put a price on it. I will do my 'sport' regardless of shows or comps, it won't die for me unless I die (or break even more bones )
The way I see it is there are 2 seperate parts to what we do:
1. Riding
2. Making/charging money.
The 2 are not automatically linked. stunters can ride quite happily without thinking about money - infact when I ride I usually forget about everything else cos I'm lovin what I'm doing.
As far as I know other than this championship *there are no other competitions* in the UK. If someone is willing to go to the effort of organising a comp for the the thing I love most then I think they deserve some respect, and at the least they deserve to be heard before being slated as a money grabbing, show stealing monsters.
Yes Straightliners are likely (but not garanteed) to make some money from the hundreds of hours of organisation that goes in to making events like this possible, but woopy do, is that such a bad thing? Any sponsors of riders are hoping to make money from the stunter!!!! That doesn't mean the stunter is being exploited.
SBF was awesome, everyone agrees. There's a DVD made of the comp too - they're likely to make cash off that - Does that mean we should hate on SBF? I don't think so.
I hope these comp's generate a lot of interest and get a lot of entries and a big crowd, watching because that in turn will mean more fun, more sponsors for those who want it, more covereage in the biker press, more people buying stunt dvd's from those who sell them... and more people loving what we love.
