cost of cage

I have seen plenty of cages for sale in the states but how much have you paid in total ( post and customs) when you got one sent over?

Thanks

Re: cost of cage

Morning Pez i made my cage cos my bikes as old as me and I was skint.

It wasn't that hard just a bit of a pain in the ****. I got a mate to machine some crash mushrooms in work then just welded bits in-between them. Got loads of ideas looking at other peoples bikes. The main thing is the lateral brace to stop you breaking off your engine bolts.

Try this link

http://www.haibikeshop.com/store/ind...7854b518e2c9a9

The prices are in dollars (so roughly halve them) then add p&p and customs

Re: cost of cage

Thanks, there chaper than I thought they would be, if you compare the price of the whole cage compared to what you would pay for a pair of mushrooms. Not bad at all.

Re: cost of cage

Yeah, £75 for R&G Crash bungs, or £150 for a crash cage. neither will protect your bike from high speed stuff, but at least the cage takes a beating rather than your frame

Or so i'm told

Re: cost of cage

You will be surprised wot a beating the cages take. R&G crash bungs save ya bike when sliding on its side but they do get knocked off quite easily. The cages often bend but ya can obviously straighten them. Ive had to quite a bit LOL

Re: cost of cage

Yeah I'm willin to bet my first cage is gona take more of a beatin than a peodophile in nick .

I've dropped a few bikes without tryin to stunt em so god only knows what carnage I'm gona leave in my wake now. .

Perhaps I should sell tickets to my first stuntin practice session with my never been dropped mint 636, Just to see how hard people laugh when she hits the tarmac for the first time!! Might re-coup some of the cost of my cage.

Re: cost of cage

Hey baby steps first. Dont go getting to brave to quick. You will have to much down time recovering from injurys rather than riding and when recovering ya forget wot ya have already mastered.
Trust me i know. You learn quicker by small steps rather than lauching into a ss wheelie first time out

Re: cost of cage

wise words from a wise man. To learn to wheelie especially cos you got a b1h got to you tube and search for how to wheelie. There is a american dude I think he used to be in streetfighterz or something on a black b1h that is a really good one to get you started. After that to get the bike up like mark said and nick storm has always said baby steps.

Re: cost of cage

Cheers guys, I'll check that vid out. At the minute I'm at the 1st gear 5mph clutch up **** myself close the throttle land front hard crush bollox stage of my stuntin career!! That hurts enough without even fallin off the damn thing so hopefully I'll move on from there and progress to something slightly less painfull.

Re: cost of cage

If your trying slow wheelies first take it easy. they are not as easy as they look.
Learn to use the back brake first. Sounds daft but you may think ya can use it but when it gets up there all ya will do is stamp on it!!! Then thats how ya do a mouse trap

So learn slow sit down no hand circles first. (Both wheels on the ground) Turn ya idle up to 3k. Put it on full lock and hold the bars with one hand use the tips of ya fingers. Try to go in a circle by just using ya foot brake. It teaches ya how to use ya rear brake before launching into a wheelie. you must lean back when learning dunno why but it just works. Its a nice little move to learn but mainly it teaches you back brake control. It does not take long to learn.
Alternatively get a mate to show ya how.
Seriously dont try to learn slow wheelies first ya will just end up in a pile.

Re: cost of cage

Thanks for the advice, the back brake is exactly what I'm tryin to learn at the mo, although I ride every day I almost never use the rear brake and my foot doesnt even cover it in my natural riding position so I've been tryin to pop the front and cover the brake til it becomes second nature, I'l try the circles though and see how I get on.

I didn't realise that move actually had a name or else I would have put that down in my profile as my best trick, hold on while I go alter my profile.
