Re: help me fix...'05 yamaha yfz 450

have you wrecked it, flipped it at all? i had a '05 and had a pretty bad spill on it. i had some of hte same problems and couldnt find out what was wrong w/ it. it ended up being the carb. the needle was stuck up in the seat. my quad wouldnt seem to start. when i DID....which was hardly ever, it would run for a FEW seconds then shut right back off. i hope this was SOME help to you.

Definetly check the needle, or check the float, clean the carb, get all crap out of there.

Re: help me fix...'05 yamaha yfz 450

sounds like your floats are stuck. pull the bowl of the bottom of the card...take the floats out and the needle set...clean everything up real good. take all the jets out and make sure you can see through them. blow some compressed air through all the ports and make sure you soak it all good with carb cleaner. If gas is just pissing out of it usually its due to a float stuck open. Your bowl is filling up with too much fuel then its pissing out the overflow.

or your float level is wrong, check the float make sure it still floats may have a pin hole....I'd say it could be the float level which service manual can tell you the exact measurement it is suposed to be...check the float needle has a little rubber tip make sure it is clean...hope this helps ya...

Re: help me fix...'05 yamaha yfz 450

I think this is a carb problem, you need to get the carb properly cleaned & blown out, then check the engine oil cuz sometimes when you have an overflow problem gas goes into the oil through the cilinders which could cuz you mo problems.

EXACT same thing I told her in the other forum. Those bikes are notorious for that float needle gumming up and sticking causing the float to become stuck which in turn causes gas to pour from the overflow. Reason I know is because I have 2 of them.
