Finally got a new quad

Well after selling that damn kodiak, i went out and bought an 01 raptor. I know a raptor isn't a great stunt quad, but i can't stunt so that's not really a problem. I like trails and it's somewhat setup for mx, so that's a plus. It has maier plastic that aren't my favorite, but different. It's also got +2 a arms, worx front shocks, fmf titanium exhaust and maybe a couple other things. Apparently, someone already put the upgraded gears in the trans to fix the problem the 01s had. I got a hell of a deal on it too, in my opinion. Its in good shape and runs like a bat out of hell, at least what i'm used to in a warrior. It needs some rear tires and maybe a rear shock, don't know for sure on the shock. I may adjust the spring and the comp/reb settings. I don't have any pics yet, but there's one on the shops website I bought it from. www.westechatvs.com scroll to the bottom and it's on the bottom left. The gray raptor.

Re: Finally got a new quad

I think the old one would need to be rebuilt if anything. So I dont know if it would be worth it. And BTW, i ended up paying 2500 for it.

Re: Finally got a new quad

raptor is fine for a stunt quad.. My buddy has one and 12's and endos are np.. tho it is a little heavy but no big deal. beat the living hell out of that thing since 01 and it still runs fine

Re: Finally got a new quad

I've been looking at getting a 03 CBR600RR though Ive got to get my bike test sorted quick at the mo, but I spent some time playing on my buddies Raptor and cant get enough, I think he just sold it and got a YFZ450 but Im really taken by the 600R, its awesome, though lots of ppl slate it as a stunt quad, though I think its fantastic. I cant make up my mind, other than...I need more money!!!

cbr600rr aint the best choice if you havent even done yer test yet. yer gonna be restricted to under 33bhp for a coupla years anyway.

Re: Finally got a new quad

I was thinking that it would be alright to get the hang of it with thye restrictor fitted, Im 20 so I have a year to go before the shackles come off
and I know a load of people with SV650's, mates of mine keep saying get one of those but I want something a little different from the hoards of Bandits and SVs, and Im not keen on 2-strokes.

You'd be better off with a CBR125. you must be loaded if you can think of buying a 2yr old cbr600 at the age of 20 even if its restricted or is it just for posing? yer first bike is for learning on (you even got a bike on the road right now?), falling off, chucking down the road. You do that on a cbr6 and you're talking a world of hurt, big repairs bills and prolly write-off and unless you're in a really hi-flying job you aint gonna be able to insure a cbr600 fully comp so you could be looking at paying off for a bike you've trashed. And if you have to have time off yer job how long do you think they'll pay you and keep yer job open?

by the way kid, the guys were talking about a Yamaha Raptor quad, you seem to be on about a Cagiva raptor - you seem kinda on the wrong thread.

Im talking about the Yamaha 660 quad , some of my mates have them and theyre great, I love the things. I was thinking of getting a road registered one like they have, its way too much fun, Ive had my car liscense for a coupla years, and a Mk1 Escort which Im still tuning up cos I love the tail out stuff and could get a Raptor instead, before I can do a direct access, or should I take the plunge and get a restrictor kit on say an old SV is what I was meaning, though prolly a motard would be better.

I see what youre saying.
