Like 248, most of which were stunt only cars. The Charger had a 440 Magnum and weighed alot. In order for the cars to fly straight, they filled the trunks will 1000 pounds of concrete. So needless to say every jump led to a totalled car. They would literally sweep up the car, put a nice shiney one in it's place, start filming again and drive off.

an interesting article for those of you who remember the dukes of hazzard....it's amazing what you can find on the internet...
Just two good old boys,
never meanin' no harm...
Beats all you never saw,
been in trouble with the law
Since the day they was born.
Straightenin' the curves,
flattenin' the hills...
Someday the mountain might get 'em
but the law never will.
Makin' their way,
the only way they know how...
That's just a little bit more
than the law will allow.
Just two good ol' boys,
wouldn't change if they could,
Fightin' the system
like two modern-day Robin Hoods...

Don't forget the last verse of the song that they never played on the show:
I'm a good ol' boy
You know my mama loved me
But she don't understand they keep a showin my hands
And not my face on t.v
It refers to the fact that at the begining of every episode they showed Waylon Jennings playing the song but only showed his hands -never his face. FYI He was also known as "The Balladeer" narrorating the whole show.
