uh ohhhh! NEED A NEW KIDNEY!!!

DOCTOR JUST TOLD ME I NEED A NEW KIDNEY!!!! NOW I AM SCARED. IF I CAN FIND A LIVE DONOR, IT WILL BE DONE IN 6 MONTHS. IF I WAIT FOR A CADAVER DONOR, IT WILL BE A FEW YEARS. THIS IS SOME CRAZY ****!!! NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD HAPPEN TO ME. NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY THE ORGAN DONOR PROGRAM IS SO IMPORTANT. I HAVE ALWAYS SAID YES TO IT, BUT YIKES! NOW ITS ME

Is it possible to get a portion from a family member who shares the same blood type?

I only ask....cuz I do some heavy drinkng sometimes..and my sister and mother say to me "if you think we re going to give you our liver you are nuts" They only joke with me....

but you are serious...so maybe they (family) will help you out if all else fails!

I hope the very best for you brother!

thats what families are for....like a used parts superstore!!! My old man is going to need a bone marrow donor within a year or two. Best possible match could be my uncle (his brother), and then I think either my sister or me. You think that I would stop and think before hookin up my ol' man? HELL NAH! $hit if he needed my right arm (throttle/brake hand, YIKES!)....he'd get it! Same with kidney or whatever...don't be ashamed to ask a family member. Good luck on your search, and R6bbie knows all about liver stuff, just in case you need one of those too!

got a bruised pancreas in football when i was 14. it became diabetes because it shut off my pancreas. so i guess the complications of diabetes is just taking a toll on my organs. i had a minor stroke two years ago and it was discovered at that time that the kidneys were going also. so the next step is dialisys untill i get a new kidney and part of a pancreas. this will get rid of the diabetes, and the kidney disease. luckily for me, i am very healthy otherwise, so it should be a fairly straight forward surgery. but there is\always risk in such a serious surgery. i also have to figure out how much my insurence will cover, and how much i will have to pay.
