2nd gear popping out
Ok, so my whole driveway was getting dugout and repaved 2 cars wide, so I wouldn't be able to get the bike out of the garage for a few days. So I let my friend borrow the bike for the week to go get his license since he was written a ticket for no M class. He never suceeded because they wouldn't let him take it with no license on him. But he RODE a busa for his first bike and totalled it within a month, going over railroad tracks.
To get to the point:
I get my bike back from him and leaving his neighborhood I shift outta first into second and start to get on it a bit, the bike revs high and throws it into neutral.... HMM never had that happen, maybe it wasn't in gear all the way... I do it again... WTF 1 last time, I try a 2nd gear stand up, flicks into neutral again....
So first, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth gear you can get on it, no problems...
Second gear under heavy excelleration it throws it into nuetral.... What is goin on???????? I asked a couple friends and they seem to think shifter fork?? But yet a friend with a 96 honda f3 said he had to replace his whole engine to fix his...

Bent 2nd gear shift fork. Ive been told by the dealership its caused (among other things) by hard shifts from 1st to second such as shifting during a wheelie while not in the bp. It usually costs less to buy a engine of off ebay then to have a dealership fix it. They wanted almost 1000 to replace my shift fork. Seems like your "friend" has been running the sh*t out of your baby.
ps. its best not to use second anymore since it can ruing the 2nd and 6th gear.

it can also be for downshifting to harshly also. usually the dealer will have to split the casing to fix it. very expensive. but it is definetly a bent shift fork be carefull riding it. they can seize up and itll lock the back tire

not necessarly the shift fork, if it only does it in second. it may the roller that engages the sprocket to fully engage the gear. sounds kinda confusing when someone just says it but if you check out a parts diagram it may help. to fix it you only have to take of the countershaft sprocket and then another cover and replace the parts (on a honda). i would explore this first, since it'll be alot cheaper. and make him pay, you let him borrow it for free, and put the money towards a honda

I was going to say that your second gear may be going or gone. There are ALOT of parts in a transmission (that's why they are so expensive to work on -duh) so while it very well may be your shifter fork, it could be about a half dozen (cheaper) things too.

I went to DuPage Honda Yamaha today and the guy told me $1400 in JUST labor, not including parts.... I started lookin online for a new motor/engine. ****in sucks.... Wheelies are bad. I think I did a few too many 2nd gear standups.

Ok, I found 3 options for the engine.
02 engine with 300 miles on it.... EBAY 1 dollar with 7 days left
98 engine with 7000 miles on it.... EBAY going for 500 currently
00 engine with 3000 miles on it.... 10 minutes away from my house wants $700 for the engine and cluster...

Dude, they are trying to **** you at the dealership. It is a shifting fork, but most bikes you can change a shifting fork with out even pulling the motor by way of the bottom. Get a manual before you get crazy. Never let a dealership touch your bike. They charge 100 bucks just to wheel it in to their shop.
I would kick your buddies *** too. You get a bent shifting fork from dumping the clutch before you are totally in gear and speed shifting over and over and over.
