Re:Help Us Make StuntLife Work Safe...

Out of curiosity - do these people have jobs that allow them to surf the net? If their job is so cool as to let them surf the net - why would their work complain about avatars? If people are surfing the net while they work - maybe they shouldn't go to sites where people express themselves and express their opinions. Just a thought Shuggz. I understand this is YOUR business but the whole basis of this board is to EXPRESS ourselves. If people coming to this board didn't want to express themselves you'd have a message board with ZERO messages. If people are not allowed to express themselves why be on a message board where the whole idea is to be able to communicate with people and share opinions and thoughts. I'm not trying to aggravate you or cause you any undue stress but seriously! Maybe tell the complainers to maybe surf the net at home. It's like complaining to a **** site that your boss doesn't appreciate the graphicness of the pictures on their site when he notices you looking at them at work. Or maybe the people complaining are to PHUCKING dense to understand that when the boss says "Hey, could you maybe not look at sites with questionable material here at work" he's just trying to be polite rather than saying "Could you surf the net on your own Godamed time!!!!!!!" Again, just a thought.

i agree with shuggs. this is a place where lots of parents and "future stunters" come also. it should be a friendly environment for all. there are plenty of other sites you can find such content if you wish. in the interest of keeping the stunting world growing in popularity with the general public, these things need to be done in a way that makes it okay for everyone to view and be a part of.

Ultimately, Shugga is my friend and out of my duty as a friend, I will respect his wishes. Let me point out that I never said I wouldn't . I would just like a definition of what's accepted and what's not. I've seen avatars with middle fingers, guns, booze, etc. What's acceptable and what's not? I have already made a new avatar in case middle fingers are banned. But I'll tell you what, if I change mine (voluntarily) because it's deemed offensive, I better see everyone (including the more "popular kidz") change theirs too.

As far as the kid thing goes - I personally don't think this is an appropriate place for a child to hang out anyway. If I had kidz, I wouldn't want them hanging out in chat room and I certainly wouldn't want them going to a message board hanging out with adults, but apparently that's just me. Maybe that's why I have chosen not to have kids, too much responsiblity that I think should be MY responsibilty, not societies. Hilllary Clinton says "It takes a village to raise a child". ***** her - I takes at least 1 good parent and that's it. People want to ban music and books because they don't want their kids listening to it or reading it - How bout you be a parent and monitor what they do? It seems typical - Instead of keeping little Johnny off this site, you encourage him to come on it and then want to change the content because you don't feel it's child appropriate. If you don't feel it's appropriate for a child, keep him off of the site dumbazz.

Now, I am officially done venting - no more on the subject. Now for the question nobody has been able to answer - WHAT'S CONSIDERED OFFENSIVE?

ps-If and when I have kids, anyone with a middle finger, gun, booze, marijuanna leaf, or wheelies in traffic will have to change their avatar just for me

I hear ya shaggster! I like to know whats cool and not too. I dont the middle finger is wrong maybe it is. but we see it everyday all day. The other thing i was thinking too. If were not promoting sex, drugs, rock&roll, middle fingers etc etc. maybe the gangsta thing should go. i mean in around about way its saying your gangsta and gangs are cool. more or less what im saying no matter what someone will always have this or that they dont like. You take away all the bad things they'll find something esle im sure. Next it could be no more avatar with people doing stunts with no gear cause its promoting un safe stunting this could go on and on. i do think shugga should say what can be use and what cant and leave it at that. In no way Iam i trying to cause any beef just trying to give some thoughts here on the subject.

I totally agree that this is no place for children! Hell, the entire internet is no place for children unless adult supervised! It's way to easy to come across free **** and foul language without even looking for it! The only thing I think should be removed from this site, is the straight **** pics found in the chick pics forum. It's one thing to have a bike in the picture, but the pics of girls only can be found on any free **** site. If there are really that many complaints, why not put an age restriction on the site, just as you did for the chick pics? You have to be at least 16 to get a motorcycle license, why anyone under that age is here, I have no clue!

I always thought that the pics of chicks with no bikes that can be found on any **** site are a waste of bandwidth myself. Chicks on bikes are cool though

What about a team's sponsors coming on here? Corporate America where nudity is a NO NO...? Not good ma man. I even got a "strong suggestion" by a motorcycle affiliated corporate big wig to get the helmetless guys off the main page and add pics of guys with helmets....

As much as we want to be rebels and hooligans... to legitimize the sport (the only way Im really gonna make serious money) we have to be a little "cleaner". Basicly act like adults and not children.

Anyone witha difference of opinion has the right tofeel that way. But me as the site owner/admin can do and say whatever I feel like and do whatever. And what I feel like doing is doing what I think and feel is best for EVERYONE. In my position I try to look out for the community as a whole and thier best interests. Not trying to be a internet ****.

i agree with everyone. i think alot of the this has to do with the way the sport is going. no one will ever get any type of sponsors
if there is nudity and foul mouths running on board. i know this just from what we get at www.shootoutbike.com our biggest sponsors is APE they dont do a whole lot but when it comes to motors its a big discount. we have a bigger one looking at us now. When we contacted APE about a sponsorship . they set a few rules the site can not endorse any street racing of any type. NO nude pic we have to be very responseible ppl on the site. sometime we get carry away with our little forum that 3 ppl read. You dont see the big Corporate names giving tons of cash to guys who can stunt a bike. will it happen yes but only to the ones who precent them selfs in a way the company will feel good with. You dont see rickey gadson and kent and barry hensen and mcbride running around with nudity and foul mouths or offenisve things on there website. the whole rebellion thing is over. the street riding cutting traffic and wheeling in front of the school bus thing has passed. time to take it off the streets into a parking lot or prv. road. times are changing and so should stuntlife or you could get left behind. just about anyone now has a website and most of them have a smaller forum then this. thats where they can take the unwanted things. i still think you should lay some ground rule is what is exceptable and what is not. dont leave any grey areas. have your ppl start p.ming everyone to change there pics. and start editing some more post.

fer sure. the key word being ADULTS. Things should be clean. If people want **** or nudity. There are plenty of websites to go to out there. As for foul language, back to the word ADULT. If you have something to say and need colorful words. Pick up a dictionary. The whole stunt thing is blowing up big. It can only get bigger with everyone's help. Who knows, it could be the next competition at the X's games. to you Shugg...

I agree that the whole nudity thing should be addressed. I was just looking for a definition of "questionable material". Leaving the term "questionable material" open leaves way too much grey area for me.

But as a counterpoint - Sex sells. Thumb through a Playboy. Hugh Hefner make MILLIONS of dollars a year in ad revenue. Watch TV - Half naked girls are trying to sell us cologne, cars, and beer. If Calvin Klien, Budweiser, and VW don't represent coporate America ...who does?
Again, I'm not disagreeing, I'm just offering a counterpoint. I think nudity would only chase one company away -Disney. Disney is about the only company now days with ethics. Bottom line -sponsers care about cash, not content. If a business is going to pass up a money maker because of a boob or two, their not very business savy.

Yes i hear what your saying shaggy. What they really dont want is some pictures of naked girls and video clips of ****. but i do highy beleive if we were to have some girls on our bikes with some APE stickers showing well now its ok. You see were im going with this. IF they benifit from it its ok. heck they'll be happy.
i agree with the early post nakked women alone no good. nakked women on a bike awesome still bike related. warning on the chick page must be 18 or older to click. its not work safe and corp. ppl know whats there. i agree sex sells more then anything in USA today cause us men are the ones with the cash! but you have to becareful on how your selling it..shaggy i dont think you would be good at selling sex cause you would want to keep it all to yourself.

I know Shuggz is pretty busy so I decided to make up a TOS that maybe we could see implemented and enforced. I feel in the past that some people were able to basically do whatever they wanted with no problem while a few of us tried to abide by the rules which made us feel singled out. I'm not the only one that felt that way. Maybe if we have the rules in writing it'll help matters. I've found it seems to work on other message boards - why not here.

I. Absolutely NO posting of links to **** sites.

II. Absolutely NO posting of pornographic material

III. If you're under the age of 13, then you can't join. This isn't our policy--it's the government's Child Online Protection Act. If you don't like it, that's too bad. We didn't make these rules.

IV. Be polite and courteous to people. Flame wars, hate speeches, derogatory language or other such nonsense isn't welcome here. Disagreements are fine (and expected) but please be polite about them. People are entitled to their own opinions.

V. When making a topic, make sure you post it in the right place. If it's about nothing in particular, put it in Open Discussion. If it's about How to do a Stunt, put it in the Stunters forum.

VI. No excessive swearing. We have no problem with mild cusses like damn or crap, but we¡¦d prefer not to see anything along the lines of the F-word (self-censoring, i.e. writing something like "$#%&!", is more acceptable). Please keep your language clean.

VII. Keep your avatars clean. Nudity, obscene hand gestures, references to drug use, references to violence, or pictures depicting a blatant disregard for the law and/or public safety will not be tolerated.

VIII. When posting an event you would like to see people attend please make sure the DATE is included to avoid confusion.

IX. When posting a bike or parts for sale, please include your state in the title.

X. Lastly (and most important of all), have fun! Discuss topics you enjoy, ask questions, gain knowledge, and make friends with your fellow members.
