Crash of car, motorcycle kills 1 near Sugar Grove
July 15, 2003
A 37-year-old North Aurora man died over the weekend after his motorcycle collided head-on with a Volkswagen Jetta in Sugar Grove Township.
Gregory Taylor, who was thrown from his motorcycle, was pronounced dead at 8:25 p.m. Saturday at the accident scene on Jericho Road, one quarter mile east of Bertram Road, according to a statement from the Kane County coroner's office. Initial autopsy results indicate he died of abdominal injuries and multiple lower extremity fractures, the statement said.
Around 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Taylor was driving a 2002 Suzuki Hayabusa westbound on Jericho Road when it collided with an eastbound 2002 Jetta, authorities said. The Jetta's driver, Michelle Flagor, 23, of Yorkville allegedly was trying to steer clear of an eastbound bicyclist when her car crossed over the median line, said Det. Keith Gardner of the Kane County sheriff's police.
Flagor and her husband, Gabriel, 23, were taken to Mercy Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries, authorities said. The bicyclist, Gary Smith, 53, of Aurora, was not injured, Gardner said.
Michelle Flagor was issued a citation for improper lane usage, Gardner said.
The investigation is continuing.
