Re: Semi work safe

every vehicle has a certian torque the wheels are supposed to be tightened to depending on stud thickness and manufacturer's spec

no my truck is 150 ...

i either overtightened or undertightened when i put the summer rims/tires on

not always

quick change tire places are often lazy and usually just use an air chuck and a torque stick ... not the same ...

They probably use torque sticks so you are good.

Make sure you wipe as much of the old fluid out of the diff as you can. Here's a tip: Sneak in the top 2 bolts, just get them started, that way you can get the 2 lower bolts just started and when everything in lined up, squish the cover into place and install all the bolts in a cross pattern.

That is the right way as long as they use the right stick and do it properly.

I've never seen a tire place actually torques wheels. They hit it with the impact wrench until "they feel right". Every one of my vehicles has been over-tightened by those places. I always back them off and re-torque when I get home.

Are they using the right torque stick?

You might as well take the hub off. It was VERY difficult to change the shoes with the hub off. Unless you are are like the joke of the gynacologist who rebuilds the engine through the tailpipe, I would just take the hub off because it makes it easier (in my book possible)

Put the bearing in before you put the new seal in place.
